I, for one, already aware of the slider since early days of ARR. Too bad my missing cs aren't in it tho...

Granted it was my mistake that I wasn't there when it began, but it's not my fault I was a schoolboy when it began and couldn't pay the subscription.
The special edition package does came with special blu-ray pertaining the events of 1.0 though. Think I also saw the uploaded youtube somewhere...

I CAN watch em. No problem with that. But I want to unlock em with my character. For Balipu to see how things were way back, when Limsa was dangerous, crafting and gathering trainers were part of the story, and Y'shtola had a sense of humor.

I'd also like to chime in with a request for non-Duty based coil cutscenes to be available as well.

personally, I think all of the CSs should be made available via the Undending Journey. Its not like they have to make new ones when we que it up. the CS take your current avatar (in whatever gear they're in) and play the scene; I figure it actually queues it up from the actual quest log (internally) and not a separate system to locate and find the proper CS. It VERY much should have all of the textual scenes from the MSQ; yeah I'm sure someone has gone through and recorded every MSQ and put it on youtube for lore/story lookup; but the system is ingame so why not give it to us fully!

In case you haven't noticed, "actual" cutscenes are those where the dialogue box doesn't show up. And, if it's any consolation, you can usually read up the details in your journal. You can think of the cutscenes in The Unending Journey as the highlights of the story, rather than a blow-by-blow recording of everything you saw in-game.

If you really want to re-live everything, you'd have to do as I do: I take screenshots of almost every line of dialogue. But you'd then end up with several thousands of pictures. I'd usually take some time to curate the pictures and throw away the ones that don't add much to my understanding of the story.

I used to record the cutscenes too, but I abandoned that eventually as it was far too resource-intensive.
This is exactly what I do as well, as it's my goal to eventually create a consistent narrative with screenshots at a later date - I started doing this in FFXI and I kinda continued it into FFXIV. Even now sometimes I fire up the soundtrack and Irfanview and flip through the screenshots of certain scenes and relive the dialogue.

Except they can't bring back those cutscenes because not only did version 1.0 use an entirelly different engine for it's cutscenes (Crystal Tools), and the 1.0 environment maps were completely changed in ARR, thus many 1.0 cutscenes take place in areas that no longer exist, the 1.0 storyline was completely retconned in ARR anyway (ARR is not just a sequel to 1.0, but a complete reboot), meaning most of those scenes aren't even relevant to the plot anymore (specifically, the 1.0 starting nation storylines and the Path of the Twelve story - these were actually completely reworked for ARR and the same basic ideas were reused, with a lot of concepts and ideas simply abandoned (such as Khrimm's parents and their 'secret mission' in the original 1.0 Gridania storyline).

For that matter, even the way the Echo works isn't even the same in ARR as it was in 1.0 (in 1.0, an Echo user could actually use the power of the Echo at will to extract hidden information from people - here it's just a non-interactive grainy video feed).

Thus sadly, I doubt very much you'll ever see the 1.0 cutscenes return, at least, not in the way you're expecting.
