Questions about Puglist; Bought Abilities and Stats from a New Player.

So, Hopefully my title is descriptive enough.

I'm a new player to FFXIV, joined after 1.18 became live and I have questions regarding the bought abilities from the Pugilist.

I'm currently r26, and I've been doing my Leve's to snag my marks however I have no idea what I should get 1st, and what should I avoid all together, I was thinking of Prime conditions 1st, for that extra 10%, or is one of the attack moves better? Flurry or Pummel.

Finally when it comes to Stats (and I know they are removing physical levels, however it is strongly suspected that they will be instead tied to class level instead), What stat levels are you typically trying to reach for? and in which Stats?

I've just been putting points into STR,DEX and VIT, was thinking of maybe putting points into MND for + to healing with Second wind, but not really sure if that's wise. However I also dont really know at what point should I stop putting points into VIT,or DEX, or whatever, it also makes it hard to figure out what to do with a busted stat system.

Anyways any guidance would be appreciated

    Thanks for your time

    -Dex

Prime Conditioning > Flurry > Seasoned Veteran > Pummel. That's the priority order, but not the order they become available. How you chose to get them is up to you and how much marks you have/get.

Stat-wise I would favor DEX definitely. Then chose between STR and VIT based on if you want to be a tank or a DPS - but still keep the one you don't favor relatively high.

Get MND to at least 40, especially with MP Costs on Light Strike and Pummel.

Prime conditioning first and then flurry I agree on that.

On stats VIT is your best bet, and after that STR, third comes DEX and fourth MND.
My MND is at 70 now, many people will not recommend getting MND that high on PUG, but I like to keep it that way.
BTW 5 MND is +2HP heal from cure 2 from what Ive tested.

The order you'll likely get them in, due to availability, would be Prime Conditioning > Pummel > Flurry/Seasoned Veteran. Which of the last two you get first is up to you, but they become available after the r36 quest, so if you're aiming for PGL to be your first 50, I'd recommend Flurry first. Also, remember that Seasoned Veteran doesn't do anything if you're a PGL; it's only good for cross-classing PGL abilities.

Yes, I believe pug will be my 1st 50 and my main, I really enjoy it and Im going for the more tanky approach as I often travel around with some squishy friends(and all your cool abilities turn on when you evade something ). Thus is there any point to seasoned vet?

Im glad my thoughts on MND are in the right spot

    Many thanks for your input(s)

Save Seasoned Veteran for when you want to rank other classes - which you will if you want to tank well.

Definitely favor VIT then, with DEX second. STR is least important of the three.

Yeah, there are no stand-alone tanking classes in this game, so you're eventually going to have to level MRD and GLA (and ARC and THM, and. . . ). So, yes, you'll eventually want Seasoned Veteran.

Ya, I've been getting that; kinda like subjobs (from FFXI) on steroids.

So at r50 what are some typical advantages abilities to have from other classes? right now I use provoke and rampart as an r28 pug

A PGL ability that never leaves my bar is Featherfoot.

There's a thread about that here:
