Uh, from a biology stand point the size of the animal is irrelevant to mating. So it doesn't effect it at all. I think it's going back to the "Did Shiva Sleep with a dragon or just allie with them" debate.
Or it could be simple: Despite height, males might smaller penises
Well the problem isn't height alone; the females are incredibly dainty compared to the males, who are rather burly. There's a great difference in bulk that makes it almost seem like they're a separate race... but as I and others have pointed out, there are more bizarre cases of sexual dimorphism in nature, though it tends to be the female who is significantly larger. Still, while it's a bit jarring, once you get used to it... ehh.
Of course, real-world people do have such differences in height and body mass, so that's also another reason it's not implausible. Another possibility brought up is that the males and females evolved differently for their social roles - the males as fighters, and the females as homemakers. I don't think that's the case, though; the Xaela Au Ra continue to wander and war as their ancestors did, and though the Raen have settled down they show mostly superficial differences from the Xaela (different skintones, horn / scale colors, and horn shapes). If that theory were true the female Xaela Au Ra would probably be as burly as the men, since in a warrior tribe your main value is how good you are at killing enemies (in fantasy settings, at least). But since the Raen and Xaela Au Ra share a common ancestor, and yet the females show no significant differences besides the same ones present in male specimens...
... yeah.
On the subject of that, there's nothing saying the males' equipment is too big, or that the females are unable to accommodate them (if you know what I'm talkin' about). In fact for the continued existence of the species they have to be compatible. The thing is that people are assuming the males' larger frames will make said equipment too big for the females, who they assume will be unable to accommodate due to their smaller frames. Don't say it's because you're scared the males will hurt the females - for all you know they're very gentle lovers.
Stop assuming, and get your minds out of the gutter besides!
EDIT: Hey hey, race naming conventions compressed into one topic! The gears are moving! Are we getting those naming conventions soon™?

Maybe the Au Ra are actually pangolin people :P It'd explain the size difference. Deer (and Lions) are also somewhat similar to the situation with Au Ra male deer (or a male lion) tend to be bulkier then females while the females are thinner/dainty. Actually, I like the deer comparison more then the pangolin one. Au Ra are deer-ragon people.
Also, on the topic of the male's ahem ahem being accommodating for the female if nature has taught me anything it's that it does not (see: Duck's corkscrew penis of death, or Cat's Barb).
Nah see, it's not just the male's equipment being too big for the females that people are assuming. They're also assuming the females' equipment slot is too small to accommodate. If you know what I'm talking about.
Do you know what I'm talking about?

If female Au Ra's vaginas are anything like humans (or most animals) then how wide they are isn't a problem. During childbirth a (human/hyur) woman's vagina/cervix has to stretch to allow the infant to pass through. The only problem related to genitalia would be the man's penis length if it's too long for the woman's vagina.
An example would be if an Au Ra's vaginal cavity is only 6 inches (same length as a human/hyurs) but the males penis is 7 or more inches long. During intercourse the male (if he's not careful) could rupture her cervix.
The mental imagery of the Au Ra mating is now firmly stuck in my head.
Thanks, Lili.
Plumbing issues aside, I'm glad that the Au Ra are quite humanoid, so now we don't have to imagine them laying eggs (barring the fact that some reptiles have live births).
In fact they have breasts so they seem to be mammals. Mammal-reptiles I guess. :P
You said it anyway!
Anyway yes, what I'm insinuating is that the larger frame of Au Ra males doesn't mean their penis is too big for the females. At the same time, just because female Au Ra have smaller frames doesn't necessarily mean their vaginas are too shallow or narrow to accommodate the male's penis, whether or not it's longer than, say, a Hyran penis. Of course it's also very possible Auri sex organs are the same size, proportionally, as average Hyuran sex organs.
Thanks for ruining the joke, man!
