It's probably Sony's rules, they have to confirm that you bought the game with PSN check and didn't just borrow someone's disc and installed it. Also it serves another function in locking 1 PSN id to 1 FFXIV account for trophy purposes.

Well I could play the game on my ps3 without being signed into the psn network so I know it is possible. Now weather or not they will do this for us on ps4 we will have to wait and see. It can be done....

I don't know on PS4, but at least on PS3 the game only needs PSN at the launcher. That's the only time it runs the check.

I can understand that it's their rules and such but this isnt destiny this game is cross platform with PS3 ps4 and pc not to mention its a pure online game their doing wrong by their customers by making this a requirement.

So have it do the check/achievement the next time it's online? Or give a grace period without checking for ID (Say it can go 3 days without verifying). Steam doesn't give a damn about most of my games if the server is down, I just click play offline and go to town; it'll worry about those things next time it's online.
