My "Letter from the Producer, XVI" thread

First and foremost i'm excited for the strictly functionnal changes to the UI and the targetting mechanics. Everything that will change what happens between the human and the machine. Appreciate that a lot.

There's lots to be thankful for. I don't think they could put off the physical level removal part to 1.19a though. It's like the main dish. Travel has already been addressed in part with the "set home" function. Thank you very much. However, airships to the main cities, if only that would certainly be very appreciated. (Wait where did i read that).

Personnally i'm in the 20-40 range now so rebalancing the character growth (aimed for disciple of the land) would impact me more but your 1 year veterans would probably like an enounter more.

Tutorials are major for your new players and i do belive i've made a thread about that somewhere. But with the changes to the UI you may not actually need them. An online webpage could address that possibly.

In conclusion i would suggest that you set yourself realistic main objectives and complete to the deadline with smaller easier changes.

Just one thing. Whatever those programmers say... It's faster to use written code than to write it all over again.

What i mean is: use the code for FF11 chocobo. You own it. Save money save time. Better jugement.

Yea we(the players) don't want regurgitated code from a game we already played enough of. I quit playing COD games because it was the same game with a different face. I agree it would be cheaper but its not going to be enough. The rep of ffxiv has been tarnished heavily and its going to have to be top notch in order to win back the masses.

I thought this about Auto-Attack but yet here it is again not that i'm saying the old battle system was good but the lack AA was the biggest selling point for me lol.

Although i think this game has gotten alot better from lauch, bought CE ,and many of these up coming changes should make it hopefully better to play and enjoy, its still missing some basics like a seek party ability that actually works. For a party based game this should have been one of the first changes... why has this been ignored??? or does everyone want to only work within their own LS and ignore the rest of the population ....
Also the horrible way we buy/sell items, can anyone really say that the retainer system is a good thing....dont get me wrong at lauch it was almost unuseable and now its just a pain but usable.

Im interested to see how the new level and point system works, i liked the idea of the old system but just thought it needed some tweeking on the stats so when you max out a stat it would show more benefit, but maybe this new way will be better.

i personally still have some lag issues with the UI .. i click on a spell like cure and sometimes nothing happens been an issue in parties. i didnt see anything mentioned about this, was hoping to see some possible fixes here too, but maybe these other UI fixes will take care of it.

Anyway as a whole the game is getting much better but is missing some things that i think should be first not last on there LARGE list of fixes needed....

"Regarding the UI; currently working on server and client communication system root remodeling and if this completes they should be able to work on the areas where lots question “WHY can’t they do it?” (Guessing most likely referring to stuff like search functions, linkshell functions, which should have been basic stuff)" The was an interview in august with the developers from a JP mag.

I liked reading this because it let's me know they are working on LS function and hopefully smoothing out the UI even further amongst other things.

It doesn't mean it would have to look and feel the same. It's just like you want to build a house and you have to choose between a place where the hole is dug or not. For the same price.
