Painful PSN problems

As I'm sure many are more than aware, psn has once again been taken down by a ddos.
My suggestion is this, why can't SE make it so that we don't actually need to be signed in to psn to play ff?
I mean is that even possible? I have no idea if that is possible from a technical standpoint, but I wouldn't have thought it would be too hard to accomplish, cut the middle man and life will be sweet as a nut


*edit* just to clarify, I'm talking about FF having to rely on psn being functional to be able to play the game

You would need to be online to play the game, that's a given.

I wouldn't mind at all if we were able to retire to an inn room offline to just convert gear, craft stuff, play around, etcetera.

you misunderstand me XD, I'm talking about the need to be logged into playstation network, they have a bad track record for keeping their servers online, and ps4 is my only means of playing the game, so when playstation network is down it means I can't log in to FF, which is a total pain in the a**
Having to be logged in to playstation network is essentially crippling to final fantasy should sony have server issues/suffer a ddos attack, it makes final fantasy unplayable.

I don't think it's even possible to play a game online with a playstation without being signed into the psn.

I've been logged out of the psn after I've logged into ARR and been just fine, but have never been able to sign into ARR without signing into psn.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Can you play any games online without being signed into the psn?

nope, as I said, the word is they have had a ddos attack, so no games are playable online.
I just reckon with a few tweaks here and there,that SE could make it possible for us to log in to FF without the need for psn to be online,I know right now its impossible, just thinking down the line a little...as this is clearly going to keep happening, since we pay sub for FF we shouldn't be restricted to PSN being online,thats pretty bloody unfair to be honest.

Well I think what they need to do is let you access your account from any system like you can play your game on ps4,ps3 and computer so say if one system is down you can log on with another I cant get on my ps4 right now but my son can play his games on the ps3 with no problem. I know the game is multi system but they only let you have it on one system which I don't think is right your logging onto the system with your account so why can you log on from something else say someone is playing my ps4 and I want to play ffxiv so then I just goto my computer or ps3 and log into my game why cant that be done.

As far as I know, it looks like a SE requirement, not Sony. You just need the PSN OnLine when you first log in the game. Even if you disconnect from PSN then, you keep online in FF.

Based on this, looks like the only need for this is to confirm if the SE and the PSN acc are the same as linked on MogStation, on the proper system, etc.

So, if we play on SE servers and not PSN, and the Sony ones are used just to confirm your PSN acc, I think SE could stop beeing so greedy and relax this requirement for Ps3/4 players. Both PC and console players pays the same subscrible, but one part need to cross one more gate to get into the game.

We didn't really need another new thread on this... But anyway, I'm almost 100% certain you need to log in to the PlayStation network to access the internet in any way from a PlayStation device.

I'm only guessing but I'd assume it is so they can track user activity.

This is not true. You can view netflix through ps devices without being connected to the PSN.
