no variety in retainer ventures

my fishing retainer gives me either a giant catfish or a megalodon
my arcanist retainer gives me either hippogryph skin or uraeus skin

is this normal? both are doing level 15 waterside/field explorations

The fisher retainer also brings back lots and lots of HQ Honey Lemons .

There are a lot of little items in the ventures and then there are some extremely rare minions to get from the ventures.

many things i do like about the game!!!, this is not one of them..poorly thought out.

I found it's usually the Quick Explorations that usually have a better chance of gaining better items (I mean, recently one of my level 50 retainers brought me back a 'White Raven Armour Fragment', which I understand is normally dropped inside the last boss of the Second Coil of Bahamut - meaning my retainers are somehow doing Coil runs!).

Where as the long hunting and field exploration ventures, they never brought back anything of value, so I stopped bothering with those.

I don't know if other people have different experiences though.

i log in excitedly wondering what my itm level 90 geared pld has manged to find on his travels, 1 x ureaus skin! everytime! if their was a punch emote, id get done for retainer abuse

The 18 hour ventures are nothing more than a sure way to level up retainers reliably. For the ones that are for level 50 and the higher ilevels, if there's something rare, then hell if I ever gotten it.


Quick ventures is the main key for rare stuff.

All of the level XIV and XV 18 hour ventures can return minions that sell for big bucks.

The L XV Waterside can return a retainer fantasia.

My retainers just came back from the new XVI ventures, 3 hq hippo skins, 1 hq raw ruby. The exact same stuff I was getting on the previous tier and same quantity even. Why did I bother increasing their gear? :P

My retainers are still giving me the same old... Stuff They've been giving me since they were i70. They're already i100. I'm thinking they're just lazy and to mor dhona to kill some mobs, or jump into Amdapor Keep speed runs to get their mossy horns then go to the bar for 17 hours...
