Are we really the good guys?

So there we are, Hydaelyn imbues us with the power of a warrior of light, we are Eorzeas champions and yet...are we?

Wherever I look, all I see are players more interested in raiding and farming gear than in being civil. Whether it's steamrolling new players in story dungeons, dismissing players new to a raid, or demanding that people watch videos just to play, this is not the level of civility one would expect from a Warrior of Light. All the abuse hurled in game over the shout channel, the constant negativity and abuse hurled at each other on the forum, and the sometimes disgraceful disrespect heaped on Yoshida-san and the development team; this is not how Warriors of Light behave. This is not how the good guys behave.

So, who are we? I look at the gear in the game, and much of it looks to my casual eye to be the kind of thing one of the bad guys would want, and here 'we' are working hard every day to get it, and more like it. My impression of much of the new gear and future content, is that things are getting darker, not lighter.

The Dark Knight job seems to align with this darker tone. This is a Final Fantasy game, we are the warriors of light, aren't we? So why does it feel like we are becoming ever darker, even as the new astral era dawns?

I feel like the community needs to hold an intervention for itself, and find a way to better live up to the idea of being a warrior of light. Perhaps the Dev team might want to step back and take a hard look at where we are headed, and whether Hydaelyn would support such conduct...for that matter, are we even the Warriors that she sought out?

This is a Final Fantasy game, yes it's a 'modern' MMORPG, but beneath that, it is a Final Fantasy game, we are the good guys, and we should be acting like it.

I agree entirely...the way some players behave baffles me. I happen to be a very sensitive individual and I treat others how I wish to be treated (as kindly as possible). But I am often met with negativity over things that aren't even that bad. if I did not love this game as much as I do I would have quit ages ago just from how other players treat me and new players as well. The few friends I invited to play were instantly turned off by the rotten players they had encountered....I really hope this community notices how bad it is getting and that people make active efforts to better it before it gets to a point of no return.


I want to play a game surrounded by the smiling faces of warriors who enjoy what they do....not a game full of scowling villains preying on the few people left with a smile.

Last time a saw a fresh new ilvl 50 tank. Put numbers on each mob group and tanked them. DPS goes rage mode 'cause not big pull and said "You dogshit waste my time with your little noob pulls". We kicked the dps, i added the tank as friend after the dungeon... after two days he never logged on again. Thank you asshole dps...

This story amuses me, cos i had a low level DR on my SCH, hit Darkhold, Warrior Tank says "im gonna pull big" and then pulls all the trash between the start and first boss room.
15 minutes of constant fighting as the DPS slowly whittled down the mobs .................. Would have been faster to pull individual packs, since then I'd have been able to DPS instead of panic mode Physik spam.

actually this is supposed to last only 5-6 minutes, even with 2 melees. Your dps must have been terrible

Yes I realise that Garlean soldier I killed had a son whose face he hasn't seen in years. Yes that coeurlclaw hunter miqote girl was just feeding her orphaned sisters. But they were in my way!! I'm the warrior of light!!!!

I absolutely agree with this topic. While I was lucky enough to really not meet asses like them on a daily basis, the few times I see people even acting rude for absolutely no reason(aka, when I played Arcanist for a bit to unlock WHM for my Elezen alt, I had someone basically added in an extremely negative criticism because I accidentally treated it as a healing class due to the Scholar/Summoner schtick and got all the monsters piled on me) even when they simply answer obvious questions.

You'll have people randomly wave their E-Peen around and even won't find folly in their mistakes but blame others. The only thing I can say is find a good FC with alot of chummy people like my bro introduced me to and a big part of that issue disappears instantly.

I am a little confused....
I get that you are complaining about bad part of the MMO community but are you asking why we are getting the Dark Knight job? O.o

On the side note, I swear I have seen your name somewhere OP as well as NekominisFTW somewhere before. I know it was not in FF, I just can't put my finger on it -__-

NekomimisFTW! Was a guild created in White Knight Chronicles, we moved the cocktail party to Eorzea after the debacle that was the end of WKC.

My concern about the dark knight stems from it's name, the artwork which emphasizes a darker look and feel, and the description of the job as using darkness or getting it's power from darkness. It just feels like a job that leans towards darkness, not light. As a warrior of light I don't see how I can be a beacon of light if I am armored in something appropriate for an imperial soldier, along with a fairly evil looking sword that literally has an aura of darkness.
