Since Square is revamping the Summoner pets, what would you like to see them do?

I would love to see more synergy with the Summoner and his pet. So far, Garuda-Egi is the only one that does this (her Contagion combined with your Bane) I think doing this will add a much stronger connection and encourage Summoners to keep a close eye on their pets HP and positioning. So far the pets are just buff, buff, now use signature, now auto attack forever. Having abilities that not only help the Summoner, but help the pet and using them strategically will also help separate the good Summoners from the bad and make for a very interesting job to play.

On the top of my head, they should definitely add a pet that does a skill to strengthen DoTs or have something to do with Fester or Virus.

I saw a post where they were going to change the Egis to give them more defined roles. I cant find where I read it though, but it was during an AMA (if I remember correctly)

Sounds made up without source. Not trying to be insulting, just saying there is always loose talk about SMN pets and all the things people want to discuss about them since no one seems to be satisfied.

That post is 8 months ago. Should be far enough back that the changes that made ifrit useful and often better than garuda were since then.

Yup, I think it was the changes to Ifrit. I don't know if Yoshida plays Summoner, but it needs to be impressed on him that that a ranged pet with contagion makes for a hard to beat combination. Since the buffs to Ifrit in 2.3, I've been pulling him out more often. But Garuda is still my goto.
