Of course you can, and put all your abilities on class-change CD. Protect is so meaningless for that content that even a 30 second inconvenience is too much to ask.

They'll suck it up or find another healer. It's not like DPS habitually get instant queues, especially for low-level duties. If they don't like it, too bad. Besides, intelligent players will quickly realize that there is nothing to complain about.

It's better to not take the chance of getting kicked. :P A lot of people aren't that smart....easier to just cater to them when it's so easy to do.

In regard to LL duty, Have it slotted first or second depending on duty lvl. Use it, then swap it out. Yea it goes on CD, but really, not that big a deal. Make feel warm n fuzzy with those blue hexagon huggles.

Then blow shiz up.

Decided to go as SCH to ST yesterday for my weekly quest chain. Was in there with another SCH. I don't think they had Stoneskin, not once did they cast it. Just me. Same with an expert run yesterday, went as PLD. Had a SCH heals in teh group...again I did the SSing. I don't know if the new "idea" is that it's not necessary or what but it seems lazy to me.

Or they could have done a lot of runs together with a WHM in the party lately and gotten used to the whole "the other healer does protect/SS" deal ^^; In which case it's more of a brainfart moment than laziness

LOL, just did like three runs that way, paired with a WHM. Started with, I shall let teh WHM buffs us. Since mines are pfft.

Recently, in a lot of trials and such, we zone in, tanks fidget for a second or two, wait until I start casting protect, then face pull halfway through the cast, which usually ends with a primal coming my way. Sure, protect isn't even necessary for most trials nowadays, but it's my way of saying, ready, I'm here to keep your ass off the floor. Sending a giant aetheric manifestation at my face because you can't wait for half of my cast bar to finish just seems unnecessarily hasty, rude even.

Then other low level groups are terrified to step out of the starting ring without protect, I typically have to coddle them along and tell them it will be ok. I've never been kicked or harassed for this, in fact I usually get the bulk of the commends.

As a healer its your prerogative. If no one is dying and when don't pre-buff Stoneskin it is hurting no one. Frankly, as a healer I find it minimally impactful outside of some boss encounters. People will split hairs on the subject I have no doubt.
