Play a tank or healer get an instant queue on almost every thing in the game.

I agree the roulettes could be improved heaps, heres my 2 cents
Addition
Ex primal Roulette (mount 100% drop when cleared with no echo buff)
Binding Coil Roulette (including first and second coil)
Time attack roulette (for premade parties) offer a reward for completing a random duty in less than a pre designated time
Change:
Low level roulette is for 15-30 dungeons (increase soldiery and light (for nexus) bonus by 200% to encourage level 50 players to participate)
Mid level roulette 31-47 dungeons (increase soldiery and light (for nexus) bonus by 200% to encourage level 50 players to participate)
main scenario roulette - add story primals

I hope they fix this. I am leveling a Black Mage and the queue can take from 35 minutes to 74 minutes, I reckon alot of newcomers will not like this.
Even adding new tank jobs won't fix the issue of long queues for dps. As someone said, it isn't a roulette issue, even. More tank jobs won't make people want to play tank -- those that can stand tanking are tanks already and we still have a shortage. Many, like myself, only use my tank to help FC people or only tank when I am with friends/full FC party. The issue is the attitude that is so prevalent in DF where everyone wants to speed run, dps pull, don't listen, and/or are abusive to each other (this includes those tanks who use DF and are abusive to others). To me, it is a community problem based a lot on how SE designed the system to reward certain behaviors (speed runs to get max tomes/rewards in the quickest way possible). Until this kind of design and this kind of attitude players have, that their time and way of playing is somehow more important than others, changes, there won't be any short dps queues in the future no matter if there were 50 tank roles.
I think I said the solution in another topic its what Blizzard did. You need to offer a big enough reward to get tanks to queue into dungeons solo not with their friends. You can give them a grab bag that they can earn once a day but it requires you to queue solo. It had about 100 gold in WoW which is like 100k in FFXIV and about a 15% chance at a mount or minion, these mounts/pets were often dropped in old raids/dungeons. So to make it so more tanks want to queue up you offer the random bag that always has 100k gil and a chance at all the primal mounts and dungeon drop minions. When they added the grab bag the dps queue times went from 30-40 min to 10 min.
That's because everyone went to play tank to get free stuff. Fewer DPS and more tanks = easier time for DPS to get into an instance. So it's not just that tanks were going into the instances, but that they were gaining more tanks and people were quitting being DPS.
This would be a terrible idea. We would have too many tanks and too much gil floating around.
TBH, your post added just as much as mine did. It's easy to point out the problems, but unless people offer solutions it's all just talk. How do you *make* someone *want* to play a tank or a healer? If you force people to play these roles, you're making people who don't necessarily like the role do something they don't want. That's not fun. But you can't exactly have a healer or a tank do just as much dps as a dps class either. That'd ruin the balance of the game. In games like this, tanks and healers are the jobs people criticize the most. No one likes to be in that position. Maybe the Astrologian will be interesting enough that more people want to play it. It certainly has me intrigued enough to play it instead of my whm. Maybe people will like the Dark Knight as a tank.
Healer wise, I think they stand to benefit if they could find a way to make something like RIFT's chloromancer fit into FFXIV. The Chloromancer was a mage class in RIFT that healed by doing damage. I always thought they could try to do something like this with the Onmyoushi (The Yin-Yang mage) or even the Red Mage. Tank wise... I don't know. I don't really like Paladin or Warrior, but unfortunately aside from "they just don't feel right to me," I couldn't tell you why.
Like Mirielle said, They need to change the mechanics of Tank. Its boring. Not many people play videogames to be bored. You play to have fun, to do things you can't/shouldn't do in real life. Tanking in this game turned down alot of people because of not only the responsibility and blame tacked to it, but visually, it unimpressive. Like i said before, tanking is boring. When you think of the word tank, the first thing i think of is a military tank. Big, powerful, slow, but when it comes on the battle field, you either take it out first, or try to avoid it. PLD sucks in this game. You literally have King Arthur style armor, sword, and a crown, but you cant kill a damn cactuar faster than a MNK, BRD, or some of the other jobs. And its skills look boring, are boring. I don't want to just tell enemies" hey look at me, now keep hitting me cause i have a billion hp, and im gonna hit you but we just gonna trade hits while my BRD/BLM damage you. Stupid.
Increasing daily Tome awards for Jobs in need will be nice. I have no need for the 7500 gil reward for low level roulette. But if they double the daily tome rewards then I'd be glad to do low lv roulette as a tank or healer
