Does anyone in this thread actually understand how a DDoS works? Because it sure doesn't look like it. If DDoSes were so easy to deal with, they wouldn't be the attack method of choice for anyone who wants to disrupt a website/online service. They're easy to set up and very hard to stop.

I fully understand how a DDoS attack works, just frustrated with the fact that it not costing one but two subscription times

Sure, it's frustrating. I once had a website that I used on a daily basis DDoSed for a week straight so that no one could access it at all for that week. The website owners were very apologetic, but there was literally nothing they could do to make it stop. There's no point in getting mad and pointing fingers at anyone other than the people who are responsible for the DDoS itself. Sony is no doubt doing everything within its power to try to mitigate this, because why would they WANT to be losing service/money? It's in their best interest to get this fixed as soon as possible.

It hasnt amounted to anything significant yet, nor do I envision it getting to that point, but I have not been able to get on since the afternoon of the 24th, so thats 2 full days I have been unable to play, and I do try every now and again but have no luck

I don't care about the money.

I do care about the 3 alex maps and the 18 ixali oaknots, and the seasonal quests rewards - none of which can simply be "caught up", and every day this continues the numbers stack up. Then there's the poetics that may end up being lost without the possibility of catching them up if this continues much longer. Then there's the wasted time/expense of the gardens dying. These are all things SE can make amends for, and should.

Sony is probably still working on stopping the attack on their network. Since PS4 is pay to play online there are many unhappy customers that can't play their PS4 games not just FFXIV.

First of all for some of you clueless people, xbox live is down as well and actually gets attacked as often Sony, just when Micr$soft gets hit it is never made public like Sony. Now with this said it does not seem like Sony wants to take or have taken any measures for such cases as lets face it happens more often then not now.
This is not at all a SE issue, but Sony should compensate us ( meaning PS+ users) like the holiday sale has also sucked so mayhaps a decent game for free
