PSN is down

It is Sony's fault , in the past 4 years we have been hit with the same ddos attack . Now that we pay for the online feature we expect this not to happen . To be hit twice by the same attack in the past. 2 months shame on Sony for not securing the servers for being tight on internet security

Wasn't there a reply to someone saying this earlier in this thread? Something a long the lines that the way these attacks work is that if you do not know the exact IP of the attackers than the only option you have to defend yourself would always cause troubles for actual customers? And Microsoft is having the same issues, it's not just Sony. You seriously can't think these two companies are not doing their best to make their customers happy.

Don't get me wrong they probley are working there ass off to fix the problem but they keep promising that this will never happen again since 2011 when they where taken down for over 2 months when anonymous ddos the server , now that we pay for the service we expect higher security

actually it is their fault for being unprepared for a 3rd attack that was infact announced, they were attacked by the same group in August and at the beginning of December. they should have something in place to prevent this from happening again but they don't.

I think Japanese PSN is hit also. I used to be able to get up there before but now I get the same errors. I think even the japanese players are mentioning it on their forum. Wonder if Square can come up with something for the Ps3/4 players. I agree this is ridiculous.

Because even if they can't stop ddos, it's most definitely their fault we can't play ffxiv even though it doesn't need PSN.

Just curious: Are you on PS4? I know someone in JP who wasn't having any issues with PSN on PS3 yesterday, but wasn't sure if JP PS4 was affected or not.

I'm in Okinawa on PS4, and still no luck. My friend though tried about 77 times and finally logged in yesterday. So i'm at about 32, and still trying.

I was talking about the actual issue of the PSN, not just FFXIV accounts.

FFXIV on PS3/4 has PSN authentication. When you install FFXIV on PS3/4 you get a FFXIV license linked to your PSN account it is viewable under services. When you log in to play FFXIV on PS3/4 it does a check with PSN to make sure you have a FFXIV license on your PSN account. They don't want people playing on PS3/4 that have not a license, because someone could just borrow a ps4/3 disc then install it and play with their pc account otherwise and never bought the game on PS. Once you are logged in you don't need any more interaction with PSN though.
