Been playing XI/XIV on various Apple desktop/laptop hardware for years through Boot Camp. Most systems with discrete graphics cards shouldn't have any trouble playing. Comparing to videos that I've seen I'd say my system performance is somewhere above that of a PS4 and somewhere below a nice custom rig.
My current machine is a late 2013 27" iMac with an Nvidia GTX 780M. I've done S-rank hunts, Odin, and Behemoth without lagging out and eating dirt due to not being able to see stuff coming at me.
So the hardware is undoubtedly capable of running the game. The question is how are they handling the graphics system on the OS X side since it's not going to be based on DirectX. Could be OpenGL, Mantle, Metal... We just don't know at this time.

All we do know is that progress is continuing and they're aiming for March/April release.
It'll be OpenGL. Mantle is still in closed beta and Windows only. Metal is IOS only.
To the OP. I have a early 2013 MBP with a GTX 650m. The game runs decent via bootcamp. There were some problems doing fights like Titan, though. Escaping Wotl was a bit of a problem due to graphical lag. But any other fight, the game ran fine.

And soon future update some people will say "MacBook limitation"

Assuming it's a competent port, every modern MacBook Pro should have no issue running XIV on medium settings at a sane resolution.
with both a a PS4 and a Mac, It's time to say goodbye to Windows![]()

Intel HD 3000 can get around 25 fps at 720p and minimum settings. So yes it will be "playable" even on older, lower tier hardware in the same sense that PS3 version is "playable". HD 4000 will do a bit better than that, and if you have a dedicated card, you should be good.
