The simple fact you had to modify your system to fix those issues is proof that the system does not run it "good" since the system is by default using a standard platter based HHD.
And soon future update some people will say "MacBook limitation"

Assuming it's a competent port, every modern MacBook Pro should have no issue running XIV on medium settings at a sane resolution.

Intel HD 3000 can get around 25 fps at 720p and minimum settings. So yes it will be "playable" even on older, lower tier hardware in the same sense that PS3 version is "playable". HD 4000 will do a bit better than that, and if you have a dedicated card, you should be good.
