I'm not sure what game your were playing but bard has been a raid staple since 2.0. I can recall spending countless hours sitting in wineport waiting for a bard so the group could enter t1That's what I'm saying. >_>
Optimal right now is PLD/WAR/WHM/SCH/MNK/NIN/BRD/BLM, at least on fights requiring two tanks. Someone pushing progression please correct me if I'm wrong on that.
Now, PLD/WAR could be WAR/WAR or PLD/PLD without affecting too much. WHM/WHM is viable, SCH/SCH is less so but still probably works (Galvanize not stacking is still an issue). But you won't see any progression groups running without a BRD. In 2.0 and 2.1 BRD was the safety net of the group, only needed if something went wrong. In T8 and onward, though, it started becoming a required class in order to beat enrage timers. I'm asking for a return to how it was in 2.0. Whether that means shorter fights or more self-sufficiency for the other classes is up to the devs, but I don't see any reason that a BRD should be required in every single raid instance.
You should have gone PLD/PLD, then. People deluding themselves into thinking that PLD/PLD didn't work for silences doesn't make it true. And if you needed a BRD for Cad, well. . .
Sounds like my experience in FF11. Just cross your fingers SE doesn't attempt the same terrible fixes, which was to add an aura buff to pets, but give a flat out 25% damage reduction to everything you could do.If you're talking casuals in PF, maybe. I'm in DnT and do you know how many SMNs we have? Me. Everyone else switched jobs. Same for every other high end guild. Other than myself, EVERY other SMN I knew before this patch is no longer a SMN. If that's not indicative of a class being broken, I don't know what is. SE said they buffed DRG because it was at a point where they were being left out of groups and didn't have a place in them. SMN is in the exact same place.
Most world first groups used mnk/mnk this time as nin released the same patch so people were still levelling learning and gearing the job. Nin/Mnk will likely become staple for the fringe progression groups with the numbers that the best nins do (see here: https://twitter.com/Lucrezia_Alex/st...70547012562944), dragon kick is too valuable to drop mnks. Not pushing FCOB, but MNK/MNK is the melee DPS comp I've heard used by most world firsters, but otherwise I believe that's how it goes. Things are pretty flexible now that i120 is prevalent, though.
Except you always need a BRD. Literally. It's the only 'mandatory' job in the game right now for coil content, because there's no other viable method of TP restore post NIN nerf.
I don't get why people prefer blm over smn. Both of them have different advantages. There are plenty of blm who can't keep up with the dps in fights that require movement and that include most coils. Sometimes, they even get special treatments in order to keep the dps high like in T11 when they can stay at the stacked spot while everyone else had to move or in old T8 where they do no mechanics, when smn can run to grab a mine in any far corners so that dps can just keep dpsing.
Regarding MP, SMN has to use MP wisely. Don't just throw ruin 2 on everything and remember you have sprint too. Energy drain is not great, but it's essential and needed rather than running out of MP to dot. I do wish though that energy drain gives back more mp and/or has higher potency or if could even be like having a longer CD time, but doesn't use aetherflow charge.
Anyway, I'm one who hasn't changed my main at least not for now. :P

Any good blm is comfortable with having to move while dpsing without it effecting their dps too much, I'm one of the more confident people in my coil group when it comes to having to handle mechanics so I'm normally on "Priority" for things like tether stack in t10 and towers in t8, and it doesn't really effect my DPS a lot.
Hopefully 2.51 will bring so me sort or change
THANK YOU YOSHI P AND CO . It shows you do read this forums!.
Ruin and ruin 2 mp reduction! This will certainly help ! Cheers! :-)
