Quest: Method In His Malice progress disappeared after maint

Zodiac sidequest: Method In His Malice
    Time: December 25, 6 a.m. eastern
    Frequency: once
    World name: Sargatanas
    Character name: Lumos Lightheart
    NPC name: Adkin ?
    Monster name: Qarn Hard mode
    Class/Level: 50 WHM
Party or solo: I don't know...

    Steps:
This morning when I logged in after maintenance, I noticed my quest list was too short. I quickly determined that one of my 4 relic sidequests was no longer in my journal.

I had already obtained the blood key items from Wanderer's Palace, Copperbell Mines HM and Hullbreaker Isle and was up to Qarn HM (and turned them in as the quest progressed).

I did 2 Qarn HM runs last night before maintenance but did not get the drop. I had to exit the second run because of pending maintenance.

Method In His Malice has completely disappeared. I logged out and relogged in. Nothing. I went out to the NPC in Central Thanalan and he offered me the quest like I had never done it. What can be done to restore me to the point I was at? Or am I forced to re-open this quest and start over?

EDIT: I've also sumbitted IN GAME bug report (twice) and it's not showing up in my history of reports like other times I've submitted though Help desk....

    UPDATE:

Seems I did a stupid thing last night. I think I inadvertently abandoned the quest while trying to exit the dungeon early due to maintenance starting. I believe I must have pressed J and hit abandon instead of U and hit abandon or vote abandon. I was very tired and the run was not going smooth, we would not have had time to finish. While this is my fault, of course, and I'll have to restart the Malice side-quest, it's worth noting that I have to confirm to throw worthless items away, or to go through a door to my house or FC house (and the default confirmation is "no"...why??), but there is no confirmation or warning for abandoning a quest you've worked weeks on. :/ Live and learn.
