				Is it really silence though? I mean, have they talked about the changes any other class/job is getting in 3.0 yet?I agree with this thread as a long time Summoner fan myself of the Final Fantasy series even I'm getting concerned about its future on this game, i just don't want a repeat like FF11 even if their big changes for it in 3.0 this silence from the development team is excruciating.
I suspect we will know more about what they have in plan for job changes in the months leading up to Heavensward.

 
			
			
				When I tried the summoner/arcanist, I went in with impressions from Final Fantasy 4 and 6. Naturally, I was horribly disappointed, when comparing someone who can summon Odin and Bahamut AND cast Meteo... to someone who has Carbuncle as a Pet.
Well, in retrospect, I have to say Arcanist was a really well developed class, and the things you can do with the gold carbuncle are crazy. But a summoner... no, it doesn't feel like it at all. Its more like a Beast Master class from some old Boy and his Dog video game.
The key components of a high level summoner for me at least, needed to be a really slow casting time, like Limit break/raise dead long, maybe even longer, but then the thing you would summon was supposed to be amazeballs, romp around for a moment, then vanish. Basically, A summoner was someone with a repeatable limit break with casting time and mp cost proportionate to the potency. Instead it was just boy and his dog level 1-130.
Nothing is quite so boring as nothing.


 
			
			
				
I have to agree SMN need to be rework it does not feel like a real true pet job. Like if you take away the pet and give me the spell Contagion noting would change from the job. Pretty much what i'm saying is they need to rework the EGI part of SMN leave everything else. Don't change the fact that it's a Dots and DPS over time just give us a better way to gain more MP.
I try out turn 10 and i do see the MP issue if energy drain and bane was not part of Aetherflow. I believe SMN could keep there DPS up and have more MP at hand. I don't know maybe give SMN the spell Sublimation "Stores MP while reducing HP. The effect ends once the MP limit is reached" But in FFXIV it would allow a smn to gain all MP back. I don't see why this could be a issue BLM can gain there full MP with one spell. So it not very game broken if a SMN could do this also. This way they don't even need to get rid of bane and energy drain being part of Aetherflow stacks.
But the issue does not spot there they really need to fix the pet part the egi are just waste of space. In 3.0 there going to be what 5 new spell for each jobs? So SMN going to get 3 new egi and maybe one ok spell and one lame one? I hoping w/e SE do with SMN they fix the MP issue the spell issue and the fact that it does not feel like a pet job.
I enjoy SMN and even got apocalypse for it so i be playing this job for a long time. Let's hope SE does not mess this up and fix it without changing it 100%

Actually we would get 5 new class abilities and 5 new job abilities if SE continues keeps the classes for all current jobs.

				Ha! o.O i forgot about the class spell but how would that end up working for the jobs without class i wonder? Do they get two spell per level once they reach 30+ i wonder. At the end the issue still be that we using up a spell for a Egi that we end up only using one for a full raid fight.
