    Kind of worried

    Hey guys,

    Is it just me or are we losing player continuing there zodiac / relic quest each time a new step come out? I read forums and speak with a lot of people in game and I mean, is it good? Is it intended, is the relic too grindy? is the relic weapon should be THAT rare?

    Well don't know if its good or bad really, thinking good for the rare weapon but bad since less and less people are doing it

    The relic quest is basically there to be a long term goal for players who wish to pursue it. I personally don't like it's reliance on rng for specific steps and that keeps me from ever really wanting to pursue it, but it's there if I want and that's never a bad thing in an MMO.

    People always say the same thing;

    "We're losing players cause of lockouts"
    "We're losing players cause of Atma"
    "We're losing players cause of cash shop"

    etc etc etc

    You can't really say things are the way they are because of a few people on the forums and in the game telling you so. It's a small drip in the big ocean.

    People always become disillusioned with the game midway through major patch cycles, it's nothing new.

    Pretty much this.
    Burnout is a very real thing. Everyone gets sick of the game eventually. Which is part of why new content is so important and why requiring a time investment is also important. If your players burn out too fast, then they quit sooner and never return. If you stagger content, they'll at least come back when the new stuff comes out.
    A lot of earlier games learned this the hard way.

    The majority of the people who complain at how boring or time consuming the relic quests are tend to be the kind of people who want to blaze through content as quickly as possible. MMORPGs are not known for being speedy.

    Ignore the fact that the relic questline is largely made up of content that was originally relevant more than a year ago at this point.

    Is it really any different from the grinds we have today? The Crystal Tower series, the Coil raids, etc. It's all about grinding the same pieces of content over and over again with new ones coming every patch to change the scenery, yet everyone wants to do em Sonic the Hedgehog style for what reason? To stop playing till next patch?

    ^^pretty much this, been playing MMO's for nearly two decades and learned a long time ago to pace myself, last thing I want to do burn myself out on grinding, end up hating the game, then be stuck waiting 2-3 months for new content to come out while in that mindset.

    Not always I'm afraid. I complain about how boring it is not because of the time invested but to how there's just no real character growth involved in it past the first step. The first step with Hydra, Chimera and friends was perfectly staged. yes it was difficult, yes it took time, yes it took effort. The best part through the phase was I could feel myself improving as a player. The later phases to the relic quest felt more or less like stagnation and very much like degression instead of progression to me. Instead of feeling myself getting better with each phase and step and wanting to progress in it to be better. That was replaced with a feeling of how much of the past content I have done i can stomach through again before I throw in the towel.
