    Chocobos and Spirit Bonding

So, was doing some SB in the morning, and someone complained about a chocobo being pulled out for some exp gain. He made the claim that having chocobos out reduced SB gain for the group. Is this a true fact, or just someone trying to keep people from filling spots with birds?

It's true. Technically, the choco counts as a party member, and the larger the party the slowly the SB gain per kill. The party of course can kill more mobs in the same amount of time, which is why grouping is faster then solo killing.

I thought you got a bonus for having a fuller party

I think the bonus comes from faster kills.

Solo : (give or take amount %)

    1 mob kill - 6% SB

Solo + Choco : (give or take amount %)

    1 mob kill - 3-4%.

So, it reduces based on party amount, but you kill faster so it evens out. You still get the same and SB % in the same amount of time as you had without a party.

Chocobo's, over the course of a long spiritbonding session (5 sets or more) can lengthen the time required to complete by 20 minutes or more. especially if you are in a party, that is a pretty big amount.

That said, when I spiritbond, I put it into party finder with "NO CHOCOS" in the comments, just to be sure. I also do not join other spiritbond parties for that reason.

The same can be said about having more than a whm and 1-2 additional blm/whm/brd in a SB party. Beyond that, you're not speeding up the kill rate while lowering SB rate per kill.

that is also very true. having a choco is the equivalent to having an extra party member who is not wearing any sb equipment, but is also not wearing even close to competitive gear on them.

As someone who pays multiple people at a time to wear spiritbond gear for me, that's an unacceptable loss.
