Becoming a monk

So I leveled my Puglist to 30 and Lancer to 15, but still can't become a monk.

Have you done all the class quests at the PGL Guild as well, including the last one at level 30? Plus, how far are you in the main storyline?

It was changed in the 2.41 patch that to unlock Jobs you now also have to have passed a certain point in the main storyline (specifically, the main quest 'Sylph Management' which is around level 30) before the Job quest will become available.

I think I passed Sylph management as I already defeated the thousand Maws of toto-rak

Oh and the quest you were talking about is return of the holyfist

Job quests come from a different NPC than class quests. Once you finish your final Pugilist quest, your Monk quest should become available from the appropriate NPC.

The quests that unlock jobs start with someone in the main class's guildhall (in some cases the guildmaster, but I think it's the guild's receptionist in the case of Pugilists->Monks). That quest will send you to the NPC who then gives the remaining job quests.

For Pugilists unlocking Monk, pick up Brother from Another Mother from Gagaruna at the Pugilists' guild. That will send you to Erik, who's at the Goldsmiths' guild, and from whom you'll get the remainder of your Monk quests.
