Don't doubt it, I'm getting 60fps roughly everywhere with DSR 4k on a single overclocked GTX 970.
Which has to work quite a bit harder than native 4k
So I'd imagine a native resolution 4k would have no problems with it. (my 4k screen will be here in a few days)

Remember to turn on the Occlussion culling.
Turn off FXAA absolutly, you totally don't need that at 4k.
(2 other options that you can mess with which hit the FPS hard but don't impact the looks very much are HDR, and Screen Space ambient Occlusion. sometimes changing transparent lighting can give a nice boost in fps also)

I'd be expecting better performance come DX11.

It's easy to tell who in this thread hasn't actually tried to play this game in 4K, either on a 4K display or using Nvidia DSR.

4K and 60fps can be achieved in many games available today with reduced settings. If you completely max all the settings out many games are still in the 30fps playable range, but for a shooter like Battlefield 4 you will prefer lower settings to ensure 60fps. For something where the optimal frame rate isn't as important like an MMO, it's acceptable to run at max or near max at 30fps. I doesn't bother me to play FFXIV or Tera at 30fps, sure 60fps is nice but I'm not trying to headshot the mobs or anything.

if you have to reduce the settings, its not worth it.

if you think it is, time to go get those eyes tested, coz honey, you ain't 20/20.

Just so you know 4k screen res is only an option to people that can run it. Anything lower is a reduced setting for people that use a higher res monitor. So we can reduce a few settings that literally are obsolete because of such high res and keep the amazing res we currently have. So that just kinda backfired on you. Anyway I like how I post on this forum to get answers and try to get help and I get some truly good people saying they need help and are looking for dev attention and then I get the people that are like "Oh I don't have that so I must argue against any quality of life improvement if it doesn't affect me" or " I don't have that high tech stuff so I have to try to argue that his/hers is worse than mine because why not." It's sad. ESPECIALLY when the people arguing just think they know so much and still have yet to see the game in higher res, 4k especially. Don't act like you know more than the people that have the hardware and are dealing with it right now. I really wish I could delete peoples comments that don't contribute ANYTHING to my forum topic. -.-

First time I tried using 4K (well... 3200*1800 to be exact) I thought "where the hell'd my HUD go?!" xD

    4k Performance

I just wanted to let others know how this game performs under 4k as I do have a 4k monitor, and to give others a bit of insight on hardware requirements to run FFXIV at 4k.

    My System Specs:
    i5-4670 @ 3.8GHz
32GB G.Skill Trident 2400MHz RAM (for the lulz and messing with RAM drives)
    Samsung 840 Pro SSD
    28" ASUS PB287Q Monitor (4k)

    As for my video cards.....

I was using these, but I had slow-down issues with certain graphical effects only when crossfire was enabled. Others have reported this too on crossfire and SLI, and it has to do with the purple glow by entrances/exits to boss fights.

Crossfire only work if you're running full-screen.

Crossfire messes up if you have DPI scaling enabled in Windows. If you alt-tab or quit out of the game, Crossfire will be disabled from the game until you rename the game folder (WHY? I dunno, it just does). Something to keep in mind if you run your desktop at 3840x2160.

I found that if I set the desktop to 1920x1080 there was a slight increase to FPS (mostly noticeable in Mor Dhona as I use v-sync)

    EVGA GTX 980 SuperClocked Edition
After doing a bit of research, I went out and purchased this last night and it works at about the same performance as the two R9 280X I had crossfired, if not a little better and without the slow-down problem mentioned above.

There doesn't appear to be any gains with the desktop resolution set at 1920x1080.

    Graphical Settings:

AA: Off (it's not needed, seriously).
    Other Party Effects: Off
(I find it hard to focus on what is going on with too many flashy things pouring all over my screen.)
    Occlusion Culling: On
    Shadow LOD: On
    All other settings at max.
I like to play on Full-Screen.

    Results:

With v-sync on, I maintain 60 FPS just about everywhere except for in Mor Dhona which can drop FPS to sub-30 numbers with everything maxed. A few tweaks on the settings can raise you up to 35-40.
I haven't taken a peak yet at my FPS in a 24-man raid, but there was no indication to me that my FPS was dropping below 30 with the crossfire cards.

With V-sync off, I get up to about 85 FPS in non-populated areas, so keep this in mind if you're trying to hit 120FPS on 4k (REALLY? Who's trying to do this right now?)

GPU RAM utilization hits about 2GB under 4k, so there's still plenty of breathing room if you're looking at using 3GB cards.

thats a nice report. it's too bad you bought the non k version of that CPU, because it you would be able to get nearly a 5ghz speed OC on the K version which would further improve your FPS by quite a nice margin considering how much FFXIV ARR is CPU dependant.

DX11 is being developed with gameworks in mind btw, so those of us with NVIDIA cards can expect way better performance than AMD, since they don't give a crap about MMOs.

Also at 4k no one really needs to worry about 120fps since 60fps is practically the limit atm for PC for 4k atm unless you're doing 3d, then you will need 120.
or 60 at 30 30. but blehhhh gaming at 30fps is really lame. anyone who disagrees needs their eyes checked. (movies are completely unrelated to this)

Yea I got the superclocked one that can get almost to 5ghz, I probably should have mentioned that haha. But just towards your last comment I am doing the same settings on my game as the guy above your comment and I am at 60 fps besides town. And in town i get 45-55. So I'm never playing in a situation where i have lower fps, but there are situations where I am just afking of sitting bored in a place of low FPS XD. But to be honest that doesn't bother me one bit because I spend most my time in coil and roulettes and just straight up killing stuff so I never really notice it
