Then maybe I just have bad eyes because I run it at native resolution(1680x1050, so not quite 1080p, but still native to the monitor) with FXAA turned off and I see no problems with aliasing.Honestly, you really just need to see it for yourself. The only thing that needs up scaling is UI. The graphics itself are just so much better just by having higher resolution. If you run 1080 and look at the edges of characters you can tell there is a lot of little pixelated edges and anti- aliasing only blurs it a bit. 4k literally makes it so there are so many pixels that you can't even tell where the pixels are unless of course you put your eye against the monitor in which case I would feel sorry for your eyes :P. It all just makes the game look waaaay better. Also higher resolution doesn't mean if you up scale something to the size it would be on a 1080 monitor it will look the same. It will still look crisp and better no matter what angle you look at it.

a single 980 can't run this game at its best at 4k anyway, it simply doesn't have the raw pixel output for it.
You're totally welcome to enjoy 20fps constantly though.
My single overclocked 970 has no issues with 30+ fps with all settings maxed except in cities. Since I'm not exactly fighting anything in Limsa Lominsa, 20fps there is irrelevant. A single 980, especially an overclocked one, should have no problems going even higher.
Things my look smooth but textures will look really washed and poor.
You overestimate the capability of the hardware when the situation and scene is cpu bottlenecked vs gpu.
City states are CPU bottlenecked
Out in the field is gpu bottlenecked.
30fps is not smooth to play at, it is choppy as every frame is displayed twice during a refresh interval.
I play on high settings (not max) 60 fps in all areas. Just needed to turn of loading things behind walls. So yea, not playing at 2p fps but thanks for your input.
I get 30fps on maximum settings in cities and 60fps+ in dungeons with 4k on a laptop with a single card.
