As a new crafter with no lofty ambitions, what to meld?

What would be best stats to meld to if I only plan on doing one star crafting with patricians, and want the best chances of HQing? I plan of having all of the needed skills. Would maximising CP be my best goal if I dont want to go crazy with the overmelds?

    Thanks for your time

Going to need a bit more info. First off AF gear is very cheap to make and if not melded yet which by your post seems your not. I strongly suggest finding a FC member to make you some. if your going to even bother attempting 1 star rotations your going to need the lvl 15 cross skills. Its the way crafting was built, minus rapid synth. you really dont need that.

You mentioned 1 star crafts but you havent mentioned weither they need to be HQ or not. Are they going to be 80 dur or 40 dur synths. All of these things are going to determine what is the bare minimum melds and cross skills to achieve what you desire.

An example: 80 dur 1* HQ craft your gonna want around 347 Cft 355 ctr around 340 cp for a non RNG HQ synth. you can do it with less. Need more info ^^

check out the crafting simulator and youll get an idea of things.

80 dur 1 star can be 100% HQ with 326 craftmanship, 325 control and 351 CP (with CP food). The gears i'm using for that is however fully melded belt + accessories with ixali hand gloves (only Patrician head, body, legs and foots gear).

I remembered when I first started with all patrician gears, and not fully melded accessories, i reached about 80-90% HQ for 1 star 80 dura. for 1 star 40 dura it will be much much harder. The rotation is highly rng based (with lots of Hasty touch and a big BB at the end). I also used 2 Rapid Synth, so i can finish the progress with 1 CS II, the rest is all for HT and ToT. If you are not going to meld anything, AF green gears would be better than patrician set.

I see you are on my server. I have all my crafters to 50. If you don't have a FC that can help you make gear, I'll do it for you if you want to supply the mats, no charge. Though I may have some lying around. AF gear is going to get you better starting stats over the patricians. If you want send me a message, though I'll probably be offline the next couple days. I got my CP to 338 with all cross class action you can easily HQ any 1 star with normal mats, and get 2 stars up over 70% chance at HQ, with one starting mat at HQ will get 100% at a 2 star. Let me know, would be happy to help.

To be honest with you, if you actually get all the crafts to 50 and thus have all the skills, you will be able to pretty much 100% HQ everything so long as you're wearing HQ class gear on the left side, have your HQ militia offhand, and have level 49+ HQ accessories. No melds necessary. You might have some trouble with the base materials (the 40 durability ones) but all the finished products shouldn't be an issue.

At which point it's up to you. There are definitely pieces of furniture you can make big money off of (especially if nobody's made any in a while). You can make the AF gear for the classes and sell them to others for usually around 20-30k each (that's the prices on my server), or you can find out what food items sell, where to get the ingrediants, and start producing those as well.

    Also Glamour Prisms.

Patricians fine for the 1 star stuff, in my experience. It has the added simplicity of not requiring a separate piece of gear for each crafting class. That said - the class specific stuff IS better than Patricians, and worth pursuing. If you still want the Patrician's set, forego the Patrician's chest piece in favor of the Dodore Doublet - its got the exact same stats and stat caps, but one more open Materia slot. You should still go for the class-specific stuff though, until you're able to get the Artisan's stuff.

As for melding ... meld to what stats you need. I would suggest melding so you can make the token items for the Artisan's head piece, though - its the best in slot and not really all that difficult to come by, and it cannot be melded, so you're saving time and trouble with that.

To do one star in Patrician's you are going to need to sink a LOT of gil in overmelding.

This link will show you how to do two star in Patrician's:

Please note that the gear shown is 2.2 max. We have better than that available today.

Your money is better spent on better base equipment than on materia when you are fresh 50. I don't think you even need materia for 1-star if you have AF gear, your i55 main hand, and the former BiS for jewelry and stuff.

You can manage 1* and 2* with just HQ i55 gear once you get several of your cross class skills, most importantly Byregot's and CS2.
