Bad and inactive FC leader?

Hello,
My free company was first founded by my friends and I in hopes to create a large group and get to max rank. Over time, we had success. After becoming inactive for a few months, we all got demoted to the most basic rank. We deserved it.

I've come back to XIV and have been playing for a little over two months. I noticed that the company is very inactive and the current leader only logs on once every month for a few minutes, occurring around 30-31 days of inactivity, and then logs off without any communication or update whatsoever. I want to get the company back up and running again, but I can't do anything other than recruit without getting a promotion or becoming leader, which is impossible if the current leader is never on or is willing to promote the only two active people in the FC from basic "Recruit" status.

What should I do?

Start a new Free Company

This exactly. If the current leader refuses to become more active or pass on leadership, there's nothing else you can do if you want an active FC.

I would, but so much work has gone into this one and I would hate for my friend's and my own work to be put to waste.

My advice would be to try and talk to your friend and make you the FC leader. if you can get the promotion then start a new FC. But, whatever you decide to do I hope it goes well. Good luck.
