Did your race help determine your job ?

Not paying attention to the stats when I first started playing the game( I had no idea what they were for at the time) I just chose Hyur, Highlander. Now they are good for the job I was playing atm (Dragoon) I slowly started to drift towards being a healer.

I then dabbled into making a new character but then decided against it (time reasons) then noticed the stats of different races..... I then switched from Hyur to Miqote due to their +3 MND and +2 PIE over Hyur.

I was wondering if anyone else took this big step in what in reality is a very minimal gain but for some reason I felt I needed to as I 'wasn't maxing out my potential.

I miss my Hyur tho....

No. I picked a midlander originally because I wanted a "traditional FF healer". So basically a pretty girl/female protagonist type character. For reasons.

I then got bored of her lack of hairstyles, and I didn't really grow to like what she looked like over all, so I changed my race. I thought I was going to change to something completely different, but highlander just spoke to me for some reason. Now I have a pretty, tall, badass WHM who also has not boring hair.

I don't want to be a Miqo'te. Call me racist, Iunno. They actually appeal to me the least.

Not really i just picked the race i liked the look and lore of the most. I did make her look small and scrawny since i wanted her to be a Healer and i always see those kind of characters as weak looking since they are the squishyist.

Nope. I just said, "OMFGKITTIES" and bam. Done.

I started off as monk because I thought it seemed cool, but ended up as my (at the time) 3 man FC's only healer... and stayed that way.
I think my personality determined my job main, rather than the character race (or vice-versa)

Not really, I've been the cat race since XI where the differences in stats from one race to the next were even larger. I think mithra had more to do with dex and tarus (the lala race) had much better Mage stats, but at the time I was literally like, "KITTIESS!!!", and like someone else said above, chose a cat girl based on that. Was whm main for years. When I started XIV, I'd been a kitty for so long it just felt weird considering anything different.

I wanted a 'gentle giant' sort of character.
Goofy, friendly and freakishly large hands.

Though I'm regretting it every other patch due to healing robes looking awful on Roegadyns.

Nope. In 1.XX I settled as a Hyur Midlander after playing around with several races and looks, but I didn't get very far in 1.XX.

In ARR I started as a male Miqo'te solely to be a different race than my brother (started new character on new server because he and our friends couldn't jump onto a legacy server, and even if the server transfer system was up at that point legacy players couldn't move to non-legacy servers until a while after launch). Then I grew tired of certain animations, their hands, and cat like behavior, Used my 2nd free fantasia to change into Midlander (1st used to change miqo'te look).

I did choose a certain race in FFXI though. I went Hume to avoid all potential backlash for certain race/job combinations.
