For my preference, I love it when a WHM does DPS. I like doing very big pulls as a PLD tank and if the WHM and the other 2 DPS can bring down the mobs faster with AOE skills i don't mind sitting at 10%-20% with defensive buffs still taking damage.

Well, to enlighten you, I had those items equipped as I had just got NIN to 50 and did not have any DEX based accessories as I never used BRD as a main DPS, therefore had none to use for NIN. Secondary reason, I was using them for their other benefits as in boosts to Accuracy, Skill Speed and Critical Hit Rate. What is wrong with using what one already has, even though it may not by primarily available (as in STR based Gloam gear), as long as the secondary and tertiary attributes can be of benefit? Thirdly, for your information I intend to replace them when I DO get DEX based gear, but as they were used solely for the abovementioned fight and not for anything else (IE Dungeons, Raids and the like), I saw no harm in using them... FOR JUST ONE FIGHT.

Tired of these heal only healers way back since CT where you get stuck with 4 melee and the healers still refuse to dps adds on atomos. As mentioned by many in this thread already, alot of the content the healer ends up just standing doing absolutely nothing for majority of the time. While your party is working to kill the mob/boss - you just get to stand there and do nothing! You want fries with that carry?

If you actually read my post... I stated that healers should focus primarily on healing and DPS on targets of opportunity (ones close to death etc). I know that this isn't XI... Did I ever state that this game IS Final Fantasy XI 2.0? Nope. I have been in numerous parties where the WHM has wasted all of their MP with Holy spam and then when the party wipes, they blame the tank and the dps for 'not doing their job'... Yet they were NOT doing theirs. Healing. So yeah, call me biased against Healer DPS...

I might be a "Casual Gamer"... but I do have something called a life outside of XIV. Try it sometime.

Chances are the OP's party only booted to get a friend for an in-prog. I don't buy that a votekick would be performance related just before the final boss.
But the complaint itself was pathetic so I guess anything's possible with these people.

I was in the snowcloack today and some kind of bard started whining about that cause i did dps and spam holy in the aoe pulls. Nobody died in that whole 15min dungeon

Oh wow. If no one dies in a dungeon and you are healing then you've already done your job and played your role well enough in a dungeon. If can do that AND manage your mp, switch between cleric stance and holy or apply dot's then you are doing your minimum job role and THEN SOME by making the dungeon run faster by helping with dps. That bard :/ I really have no comment. They must not heal or are just one of those few people who I've run into in dungeons who have an ideal for how each role is/should be run regardless of them playing it or not. I would've said ok, I won't dps at all and you can feel free to lose another 5 minutes of your life in this dungeon. My guess is he was just jealous of your deeps. Shake them haters off though! ...and from one healz to another, good job
