I can't believe this is actually a thing. Getting punished for playing your job the correct way? I hope you don't suddenly stop playing the right way because of this experience.

I suspect the other 3 people may have been together and wanted to get someone else in for a win, and wanted a flimsy excuse to make it seem "legit". Either that or they are some of the most horrible people on earth. Either seems likely.

The bard was indeed an idiot. As long as you manage your MP well and keep everyone from dying then go for it. I enjoy it when healers help dungeons go slightly faster.
Hey the healer wants to dps? Great let them but if they don't that fine also.
That's hilarious, when I'm running as Bard and see a healer DPS'ing, as long as there's no reason to the contrary (such as them not covering their primary role responsibilities like healing and mitigating damage and removing debuffs) I'll use Foe Requiem to get the most mileage out of their MP invested in casting damage dealing spells, and swap to a Ballad to fill them back up a bit if needed. And the healers who truly are effective at both healing and damage dealing already knows how to manage their MP (if they don't, then they're not a very effective healer) so it's not like I'm taking a DPS hit keeping Ballad up much, if at all, when I'm using my Bard MP to enhance Healer DPS. Better than letting it go to waste like most Bards these days.
I remember a run where the WHM and I were in perfect synch, when she went into cleric stance I'd kick off Foe, and then deactivate it when she turned off cleric. It was like we had our own dance going with each other, while still hitting the all the right steps within a bigger choreographed piece.

@OP
I DPS if the group makeup allows it.
If the Tank is fragile, I only cast Aero.
If the dps eat alot of attacks or I am Heal Tanking. I don't even cast Aero.
Its funny cause I've had groups where folks scream at me for not DPSing.
To DPS and it not be a waste of mp is to throw up Cleric Stance, which can be a death sentence for the Tank if something goes awry.
95% of folks who kick you for this have never leveled a Healer I bet.

I can understand WHM, but there is no escuse for a Scholar not to be DPS when they dont need to heal. I mean I've seen some that do nothing and sit on the most MP in the game, with emergency healing and a Healing pet and not cast a single Cleric Stance DOT.

And some people will kick healers who don't DPS. lol. But I guess this is one of those "groups are allowed to kick you if you don't match their playstyle" things. Not that I agree with it, but devs have said it's okay. People are lucky that there's not a lack of heals like there are tanks.
I DPS on my healer because I want dungeons to be over fast. Also just healing is boring. Sad fact: I do more DPS than some PUG DPS. Even on my SCH. I'm use to DPSing my heart out in coil though. I can do pretty badass DPS.

Don't really see why it matters as long as you kept your team alive. Stupid bard.
Personally I dps as whm if I am farming something, like soldiery or the new relic quest for instance and if I'm not in the mood I don't. No one has ever said anything to me. A healer dpsing is a plus but it's not required
Edit: it actually happened once I just remembered.
I played scholar in low level roulette and got DD, now I never play scholar so barely knew what my skills did but I tried to dps as much as possible. Then this tank, at min level of the dungeon grabs soo many mobs, so I leave cleric stance and try to keep him up. He pulled the mobs to a weird spot too so when he dodged aoes he got out of LoS so he interrupted a lot of my heals. Then he died and blamed me "stop dpsing you are healer heal"
He didn't notice I was out of cleric stance and healed that entire pull. Later he grabbed another big pull, we wiped again, same story.
He insta left the dungeon, and we got a new tank 1 second after he left, and finished the dungoen without problems.
Morale of the story, the person complaining is usually the stupid person :@

You were partied with silly people, OP.
If a healer has enough MP, nobody needs healing, and they're comfortable enough to switch between roles, a healer is inefficient if they aren't contributing to DPS. On my WHM main, I DPS in dungeons on most pulls-- I'll hold off if the tank is squishy, if the DPS have dodging problems, or if the pull is large enough that I need to spam spells to keep the tank alive. I DPS in endgame content when MP, timing, and my unimpressive Accuracy allow for it-- even if all I'm able to manage is to keep Aero up, when you're facing a tight DPS check, every little bit counts. If I were a SCH, I'd be DPSing even more.
Keep Holying and Aeroing your hearts out, comrades in conjury.
