Healer should not dps in the dungeons?

If I can't find time to DPS some as a healer, then I figure something's wrong with the PT.

I was in the snowcloack today and some kind of bard started whining about that cause i did dps and spam holy in the aoe pulls. Nobody died in that whole 15min dungeon and just before the last boss i get kicked from the party because i did dps as whm. If i keep everybody alive do it really matter if i m doing dps? They just said "you should only heal because your role is healer if you wanna dps you should roll dps"

You shouldn't DPS on hard content where MP is a problem, but on dungeons yes you should definitely DPS. You're not going to need to heal all the time and it doesn't help anyone for you to sit there doing nothing. Your group are a bunch of retards. Just ignore them.

As a tank, if a healer isn't dpsing I'll consider putting sword oath on to make up the dps lost, that is only if the healer isn't healing too, its not like there's much that can kill me or I could lose hate. Once or twice after putting sword oath on, the healer sometimes starts healing and dpsing which is even better.

Sadly I had those players like that bard too, I was proud of my DPS and my healing abilities but now I only tose cures and stoneskin, not really in the mood to argue about if i can or not dps anymore, got kicked twice just like OP said, certainly there are players who seems to know how exactly ppl should play their jobs...

Totally situational and based on how comfortable/capable you are as the party healer. I think it's awesome that you managed to keep everyone up while DPSing! Whenever I jump in to heal, I only DPS when I feel like I have the time to stance dance while the party is in good shape and there's some breathing room to apply the extra DPS. If things look like they're getting too intense, I stick to strictly healing. Whatever works best for you

For my preference, I love it when a WHM does DPS. I like doing very big pulls as a PLD tank and if the WHM and the other 2 DPS can bring down the mobs faster with AOE skills i don't mind sitting at 10%-20% with defensive buffs still taking damage.

I love it when a whm DPS and doesn't react fast enough when the tanks HP dips to 0
