hmm. other than the cost of your gathering gear and time, mats are "free" that you gather yourself. You don't pay gil for the ore you gather. True you can sell it but hanging on to it doesn't cost you either. Someone who gathers their own mats, I do as much as possible, and than crafts will always have the advantage other someone who bought the mats on the mb. Your logic doesn't make any sense.

However you could have sold those ''free'' mats on the mb and made gil off them. In addition, gathering shards and crystal is rarely done. Many crafters seem to forget the costs related to those. And there is no recipe that doesnt use a type of crystal.

True, they may not be the same thing, However, supply and demand will influence whether someone will be more likely to undercut at a more severe price if the primary reason is just to move stock. Add in other motivations and let the pricecutting begin.

It is arguing semantics because the complaints are on undercutting in a market with a high turn over.
What is the point in undercutting a hefty amount if your item is going to be sold in an hour tops anyway?
Not going to make it sell faster. It's only going to lose everyone (but the immediate buyer) gil.
