No.
The only thing worth reading in this statement is "buy and resell". The majority of it is full of ignorance and narrow minded.
1 year for 1 million gil... I think your gil farming strategies might be lacking...I just hate there are some items these ppl are selling for 4 to 10 mill like reg ppl have this kind of money that's why there are all these gill sellers out there because ppl have to buy gil just to buy items in game it would take month to try and save it took me a full year to finally save up a mil in gil and that's gone just refitting my nin
excuse me ? Just how inflated is a price worth 2 or 3 times the materials needed ? If not 10 or 20 times ?
Just look at the most recent example : relic upgrade items. Is 2m the fair price for something that costs at most 200k to craft ? (furnace ring)
Or the armoire before that : price at 5m for 400k worth of materials ?
Saying that crafters are practicing abusive pricing is not ignorance or being narrow minded. It's just seeing the real worth of items. And when you're pricing too high, you'll be undercut and it will be fair.
From what I can tell, most people take the lowest price on the list, say 350K for an Ehcatl Sealant, and lower the price by 1-100 gil to make their listing more likely to be bought. A lot of players don't overprice things on the marketboard when they're aware of the lowest price, they'll either take or barely undercut the lowest price to keep money coming in while at the same time almost guaranteeing a sale.excuse me ? Not everybody overcharges everything by grabbing the high end of the scale, a lot of players will be taking the low end of the scale for a measure. The problem is when there's a giant hole between the previous selling of an item that has 15 different listings and the newest one, such as a 10K drop on an item that's already having the lowest price at 35K.
And not everyone are selling the item at the fair price. I understand that some people are selling items for cheap. It's their loss if they are selling it without profit. However, without undercutting, everything on mb will be extremely expensive. Not everybody overcharges everything by grabbing the high end of the scale, a lot of players will be taking the low end of the scale for a measure. Open your mind. Try to understand other people.
Imagine if clusters cost 1,000,000,000 each at mb? What will you do?
Mine them DUH
Yes Kuwagami, this part of your post is ignorant and narrow minded. You essentially say "an undercutter is an idiot if they undercut for any other reason than someone overcharging".
I agree some crafters try to hold parts of the economy hostage by overcharging, but that's relative to the buyers available and subjective. And again, I agree that buying low and selling high is a great strategy. However, what you said about undercutting ignores a majority of the economy. The MB is not just vanya and IV materia. I can give several examples of undercutting that have nothing to do with overcharging.
I like holding the marketboard hostage.
It's not because it isn't the most expensive item on the list that it isn't overpriced. Also, the listings don't exist when the items are brand new. You know, that time of a patch when everything is above 3-4m just because.
huh ? no. There are a crapton of things on the MB, but essentially divided into 2 categories : materials and crafted goods.Yes Kuwagami, this part of your post is ignorant and narrow minded. The materials (included minions here) are usually selling at the price they're put because not everyone is gathering or looting them etc etc. The price on new things tend to be a bit high at start depending on the utility but decreases really fast depending on their availability. With that in mind, someone undercutting (truly undercutting, like dropping 20-30% of the price) is either creating a new standard to get rid of concurrence on his market, or just wanted to sell fast (which is idiotic as it would have sold nevertheless if it isn't a niche material)
The crafted items however, are usually the ones subject to undercutting (I count materias in them). Because crafters put items at ridiculous prices most of the time, prices which take forever to go down to a fair price. However, this lets you with 2 things when you're undercut :
A) you were overcharging a lot and cut undercut by someone selling at a fairer price than yours. Your loss
B) you were selling at a (true) fair price and the item is being sold at loss. Buy it, sell it at the fair price, you win.
