To anyone who said that a SE Store registration key could be used on a Steam Trial.

After waiting over 12 hours for my key, I get this.

Sqenix: Why the ever-living hell is 14 not going on sale on Steam? That is nothing short of stupid. You are a business, you should comprehend what a loss-leader is and understand that all of the subs you'd get from Steam would more than make up for the shortages of a sale. Especially since you have a sale on Digital River which is an awful service. Why would you elect -not- to have FF14 on the front page of effing Steam during -December-.

So now I have a CE key that I paid for, waited all day to receive and I can't even use it because of stupidity.

Is it certain that SE is responsible for when their game goes on sale on steam? I thought Steam managed that side of the system. Besides, they've been on sale a lot the past few months, I've bought like 8 copies on sale for $12.50

Steam requires permission to do sales.

Sales are set up weeks in advance by or aproved by the publisher/developer.

1. Was not looking at the game at those times. I didn't start looking at it until the end of November.

2. I asked here and there several different times and the most common answer was, "Yes you can do this". I say most common because I could not get unified consensus, so clearly no one knew for certain which meant that I was going to have to roll the dice. There is not a clear disclaimer that I could find on the SE Store, Steam or even Mogstation until I actually went and tried the key.

That is why you should have asked SE support beforehand or search for threads in either this or steam forum of folks with the same problem before buying just to be sure.

You can always send a ticket about this to SE support for a refund but i doubt you will get that seeing it is a digital key.

Or you can always see if anyone wants to trade your key for a steam version but do beware of scams.
