Question about Animus - Novus upgrade

I am curious, when i upgraded my animus stardust rod, i had 30+ Det and 40+ Spell Speed

Went with 33 Acc 22 Spell Speed 11 det and 9 crit

When i upgraded my spell speed and determination both decreased to the level i put into the infusion.

Could i have saved those stats? did i goof my relic?

That's the intended function. Whatever stats you put in are the stats you get out. It's why Crit and Det materia are so god-awful expensive now.

The stats from the sphere scroll completely re-write any secondary stats that existed on the relic. You cannot "add on" to the existing stats, unfortunately. HOWEVER, if you want to change the stats, you can talk to Jalzahn again, and he'll request a new sphere scroll with which to make a copy of your Novus that you can then edit, while keeping your current Novus.

This is advantageous in that you can begin the light farming portion of the Zodiac quest, while simultaneously changing the materia stats on the new sphere scroll.

The copy you get back will have what you already put into it, full 75/75. You'll need the NPC at the goblin camp to remove the materia before you can infuse a different stat, and you can remove them one at a time; which stat to decrement is up to you.

You WILL need an alexandrite for every new materia infusion.

ok so basically if i want my original 30+ det and 44 SS, i just infuse the scroll with another stat as to not effect the others?

Yes, but you'll need to choose what you want to replace, as you can only have 75 total stat points (ie; remove 1 Acc to add 1 Determination).

I was always confused with the re-scrolling thing. You remove stats 1 by 1? Like if I made it with cheap ones (let's say 30 acc, 23 det, 22 crit), I can remove for example 1 acc and have 29 acc, 24 det and 22 crit? I thought the whole stat got removed and would need to fully meld it, or a new 0/75 scroll x_x

Nope, it removes one stat at a time. So if you wanted to go from, say, 25 Accuracy 19 Spell Speed 31 Determination (I'm a BLM don't hate me :c) to 19 Accuracy 25 Spell Speed 31 Determination, you'd just talk to the NPC 6 times, get 1 point of Accuracy removed each time, get 6 Alexandrites and 6 Quicktongue materia of the appropriate grade, infuse those into the scroll, and done!

Though you need a clean Sphere Scroll for Jalzahn to copy the stats onto in the first place.

Thank you very much ;] I assume this step can be done for zodiac ones? I had my sch tome going full crit/ det, then started to fail so many IVs that I added cheap ones I'd like to remove, but it's now Last Resort. And how do you copy the stats? You bring the guy 3 enchanted inks and buy a normal sphere scroll?
