I don't have an answer to your question, op. But I would like to say this. As soon as I dinged 30 with Conjurer I went to the Wolves den, signed up, then queued. Entered the arena, 12 seconds after the match starts I'm already dead. Queued again, same thing happens. The experience soured me and I never returned. That was in March.

frontline is realy more friendly for new player who want to learn, when you enter you play for 10 to 15 minutes, with this fact i can understand 4vs4 can be annoying to anyone who wan't to starting play pvp in ffxiv, also wolfden queue is long and being kill in 15 sec and requeue for some minutes before doing it again don't make people learn anything.
I guess someone already used to play front would have learn enough to enter a wolfden and not die in 15 sec. But reward and the game times don't worth the queue
Well frontline is better for starting to pvp,
but there is also point i don't like too much in front : map is a little too big we should encounter enemy faster, i don't like the drones and nodes

If you would have ever played Warhammer AoR you would understand a little bit about how a PvP server works. (certainly a game is not a other, and i din't play this one)

Yup. I do Frontlines all the time now. It made getting a handle on things a lot easier. Even with experience and some skills I don't think I'll be going back to the Wolves' Den anytime soon. Frontlines is what should have came first, then Wolves' Den. Just as you said, the Wolves' Den isn't new player friendly.

Warhammer flourished for 5+ years because of its successful OWPvP. The reason why I bring it up is because it had many attractions to the PvP and RvR mechanics. If we did not have a character limit, I could explain the entirety of what made WAR so successful. I think it would bring great influence and success to FFXIV ARR PvP.

If they found a way to magically fix the Wolves Den queues, I don't think people would mind the quick matches or the learning curve. Yes, getting focused 9 matches out of 10 as the healer is frustrating, but if you could play 10 matches in an hour you could start to learn some counter strategies.

Also, they need to improve the in-game communication about PvP abilities. I suspect there may be people who tried out Den early on when the PvP specific abilities themselves had to be unlocked who may not have ever realized that you now have all the actions by default. Heck, there may be people who started after that who don't really understand about the PvP actions - the active help only even mentions their existence in the rewards category, not the Den help entry itself. Maybe even going as far as adding a small quest to unlock them; something like after unlocking the Wolves Den in Duty Finder, a new quest asks to you talk to another NPC at the pier who then grants you all the abilities.

Up to me there are 2 main problems:
    1) The infinite queue time due to the PvP rank sync
    2) The WD, atleast up to me, is the real and the only PvP content in FF, and it could discourage people that like pvp and think they are not so good with it
(also sometimes you also find the "pro-player" that say "with that healer we won't be able to win", "It's all a xxx fault")

Sometimes I tried to check both FL and WD duty via Duty finder, but it totally wreck my waiting time.

The 1st problem is probably the most important one and they can do a lot for fix it, like multiple matches once you started (so you can even change strategy with your party once you lost), pvp roulette (let's see how they implment it), some kind of new little reward, like 5 allied seals, if you queue solo and win (to avoid trade party for bonuses), make a lv50 synced instance that will pop trying to fixing ranks, but will anyway pop(with only a solo/duo queue)...
The most alarming thing for me up to now is how they will implement the Duty Roulette, I highly hope that SE will give you the daily bonus reward only if in the WD you win or in the Frontline you achieve the 1st or the 2nd place, maybe allowing for doth the content to join in couple, in order to avoid pro-zerg and still let you play with a friend.
Giving the bonus only for a win up to me will incentive players to do their best and not just standstill, also if you lose you probably will redo the DR in order to get the daily reward, and this will help queue time again!

For the 2nd problem I would like to see a 8vs8 WD too, so helaers can hope in a allied heal, more coordination and strategies could be done and you can have more different roles in your party.
As Frontline is played even by players that don't like PvP so much, I think this will be a little incentive for those players.

Lol Logo, other than play FFXIV i play fighting, i tend to say the same :
Loosing is path you have to accept to learn and win, it should be a rule for any competiting game : players vs players
But with wolfden : queueing take a lot of time to play 30 sec when there is a no macth is realy not new player friendly, that's why it would be maybe better a wolfden working like the front, with point for exemple : you would need match and rematch until you got some set or point : because it don't worth the queue to play 30 sec and 30 sec is not enough to even learn something for new player.
I mean Frontline is more new player friendly because you can queue a game worthing the queue, you play at least 10 minutes, you can learn something from it without take 15 minutes of queue to play 1minutes of game like the wolfden.
anyway my data center have a little pvp community, well frontline it's fine : but wolfden is dead, and because frontline is a 72 players pvp, we can only play it at 04PM to 00, more 01PM to 00 in week end.
Have a other PVP mode the comunity would like ? an enhanced version of wolfden maybe with better reward worthing the queue.
Better Queuing procces also, there a rank restriction maybe them should fix this to a better queue system, because it take to much times if people are not match in rank.

This is quite right. Quitter is the correct term. Nothing prepared me for the way healers are ganged up on, and it's discouraging. And you'll see this in frontlines. A team will be full of DPs and tanks. If you check info on everyone, youll see 5/6 people with a healer job leveled, but no one wants to heal - it's stressful.
