Au'ra conflict with lore?

As for Yugiri's disguise, since it will make little sense for her to be in disguise to hide her race once Au Ra adventurers are waltzing around without a care in the world as to whether they're seen or not, it's my theory that it will turn out that she's not hiding her face to disguise her race, but rather she's hiding her face because it is hideously scarred, or something along those lines.

The problem with this though, is Yugiri actually says that she hides her face so that Eorzea's people will not react horribly to her appearance (paraphrased) therefore, the "disfigured" is unlikely; specially given that we can have scars on our characters that would be classed as disfigured IRL. also some of the tattoos can look disfigured if you choose color well.

And after seeing the slides of Au Ra; it is possible that we can have scales on our faces which would explain why she wears the mask as well as covering her horns.
