Suggestion to Dev add Controller Role

My favorite class ever of all the games I've played (and there's lots) is Enchanter in EQ. Much like kyuven, I never wanted for a group. If you didn't have slow and or CC in your group, you went slowly and it was rough on the healer or you just couldn't do it.

Sadly, I don't think the FFXIV content outside of the very difficult raids really call for support classes and it doesn't look promising.

I hope the hybrid role hasn't been scrapped honestly but I fear it has since we haven't really seen or heard much about it. It sounded really cool and could potentially lead to more creative play styles and jobs. Plus it could fit Dancer, Bard, Red Mage and possibly Summoner very well.

What are controllers supposed to do beside taking a spot in the new party organization ?

Inb4 there is a dungeon in the expansion like the original WoW BC Shattered Halls. If you wanted to go there as a dps you either had a reliable CC ability or you were not invited. Packs of 5+ mobs who could crit for like half the tanks HP each.

For a "Controller" role to exist, content throughout the game - from ten/fifteen up to fifty - would have to be adjusted in such a way to be dangerous enough to mandate its existance. Anywhere groups come up, for it to be an actual role as opposed to what it currently is - a handful of abilities on a handful of classes - it would have to have presence and be part of 'the formula'.

It'd be a massive undertaking to restructure, and to be completely honest I'm not entirely sure I'd call it all that valuable.
