SE, What Were You Thinking? (Gift Bags)

Our FC did a secret santa event. Some of us were going to send premium gift bags but they are UNTRADEABLE? LOL Hello, G - I - F - T. It is so strange that we can't send something meant to be a gift!

(A person in our FC did say we could just send the iron ore or whatever with an explanation for where it came from LOL)

In this case, I think you have to allow them to be tradeable regardless. Greater good and all of that. Not being able to gift giftbags is absurd lol.

It doesnt make much sense tbh. I thought the idea was great, its almost like SE just didnt follow through with it completely. Which honestly seems to be the case for quite a few other areas. Awesome idea, bad implication. Nonetheless the Christmas event in its entirety was awesome compared to before.

The Japanese have the custom of buying a gift bag(contents unknown) but the contents of the gift bag are greater than the cost of the bag. I believe that is why these gift bags exist like this imo.

Hmm, I guess that makes sense. I didn't think about it in terms of other cultures. It does seem weird from an American perspective though. Oh well, thanks for sharing this. I don't think this situation is a big deal really, it just struck me as funny you know?

Yeah, they are called 福袋 though (lucky bag) and are more of a new year sales thing than anything to do with Christmas. I guess that's where they got the idea, but it doesn't really mesh with Christmas or calling them giftbags.

You know, you could always send your friends stuff from the MB as gifts, stuff your friends really wanted. Doesn't have to be those gift bags which produce random junk most of the time.

I'd have liked it if the Empty Gift Boxes and Empty Twinkleboxes furniture could be "filled" by trading a Gift Bag to them. Would have raised this event up from "meh" to "great!".
