I too, felt forced to pick one city because of the weapons...until I realised the weapons in DH are better...and that crafted weapons are even better.

I generally don't like irreversible decisions in MMORPGs. For something major like this, there should be some way to experience each storyline / each company.
But basically what's going to happen here is since most people are in Ul'Dah, most people will join the Ul'Dah company and the other two will be generally weaker.
I agree with this, we should be able to switch allegiance, happens all the time everywhere, why not in Eorzea? What's the point of being able to switch classes if you are pidgeonned to one city? Make the switch a time sink if you will to deter people, but at least have it available.I generally don't like irreversible decisions in MMORPGs. From that logic you're also suggesting that we should all be able to switch our starting cities and experience each city's stories...It makes no sense. It also makes less sense for people to be able to switch and experience each and every grand company when the main idea was for everyone to commit and be loyal to ONE. Their faction standings would be extremely messed up if people switched all the time..I generally don't like irreversible decisions in MMORPGs. 1st thanks for the respoce on that part Bayohne.
Unfortunately I'm still worried about 1 big thing.
GC's seem like they are a way the devs are bringing in new gear.
I really hope if they do have any more gear at all in the GC's, Every one has a versions or they are related to the city guilds, Very much unlike in 1.18..
It's going to be really off putting seeing people having the main class's gear in a GC they don't want to join. (especially if its actually new better looking gear).
(actually waht about jobs? wait for 1.20? or hope we get lucky?)
What about if a LS want to join a GC as a group?
What about RL m8s..
I'll be forced UL, my m8 LL, her partner ul with me, based on 1.18 if we want gear.,,
Well if it dose work out like that it'll be the 1st time i'll be call Yoshida and the dev's unpleasant names..
I'm really now hoping they haven't be stupid enough to link CG's and classes in the way I've just sulked about above.
I'd still rather pick a company for it's area or background rather than the rewards :/
Well I hope Gridania will have lancer things for it's high end stuff.
I still can't choose between pirate theme Limsa and greenpeace (or front line?) theme Gridania
I don't like the kapitalism theme in Uldah
Honestly, I like that it's mixed up on weapons. My main class' weapon isn't in Limsa, you see me crying.
It splits things up and makes people have to make permanent choices.
That's fine, I agree people should have to chose and be locked in once they do.
But the fix'd choice people have already made (starting city/race for example) have no correlation in side the game world to what the GC's had to offer in 1.18.
I think it would be better if Armor was set up like this rather than weapons. I'd like to be able to wear the colors of my chosen GC.. hopefully our chocobos will have the colors like the screenshot.
