Perhaps make certain areas only accessible through the use of paths only chocobos can access, like bogs or other bodies of water with too much flotsam for bigger ships to pass through, stuff like that.

Personally I think Chocobos should be the only thing able to Jump, and they use it for exploration.

would be interesting if they did something like pokemon...you had to have your chocobo aquire a certain skill to get to a new area or something...cut, surf, etc.

Hmm..maybe? But remember the cutscene of the 2 Lalas from the mining guild that called their chocobos? They did not use a whistle. They used their fingers as whistles....interesting if we can do that in game like a clickable "Call your chocobo" icon and then an animation of your character using fingers to call the chocobo... now that more realistic looking and not boring as having an "issued-whistle" that's too predictable

My wish from SE:
I want you to be able to raise your own chocobo.
Taking care of it.
Train it to gain higher speed, longer riding-time, easier to find items while digging, and be able to give it color and armour.

Later on I would also like a Chocobo Knight job, and a racing job.
