I don't recall where in that post I said shut up or leave. I have no problem with you asking for Carbuncle back. I'd love Carbuncle back as well. When I reply to you in your own threads I try to be polite and curteous, despite disagreeing with you on some of your ideas, and I ask you leading questions hoping to aid you in refining them.

I don't have a problem with you expressing your opinion. I have a problem with how and when you express your opinion. By the time I read your post in that thread, It was not the first time I'd seen you villify SE for not giving you Carbuncle. I probably shouldn't have called you out in that thread. It was a little tactless of me, but I was tired of seeing it.

You accused me of freating you like my enemy. I don't see you as an enemy. I see you as a stubborn school child who keeps asking for candy in increasingly tasteless ways when Momma SE and Poppa Yoshi are trying to set the table for supper.

I think you need to learn to discern between "villify SE" and criticism. One is not the other. Pointing out SE's failure to practice what they preach is not "villify SE"

I can see that. But your main post is insinuating that because they don't give you this one thing,that SE are hypocrites who only "talk the talk" and not "walk the walk".

Imagine a local shop advertises that they do their best to listen to customer requests and so ten customers ask them to start selling ten different items. The shop decides to sell nine of them. Are they hypocrites or liars for not selling that tenth item?

Even the most accommodating of businesses can't fullfill every request. It doesn't mean that what you're asking for wouldn't be cool and it doesn't mean that the business is a villain either.

I'm an understanding man. I can accept that a change I asked for is beyond the means of SE. But this change isn't one of them.

Protip to avoid the worst of the forum: Anyone who quotes several times within a single post is used to arguing their daily post limit and is trying to "squeeze" what they can do in the day. Or those who feel the need to reply to each and every person disagreeing with them. When you see this behavior (and its not far away from this thread), you will know who to just ignore. Its a waste of your time, cut the line.

They have listened to a lot of requests and followed through on what they felt was needed or relevant. Quite frankly for people wanting to use Carbuncle, nothing is stopping you from unequipping your job stone provided you can deal with the complaints you will receive from other players for not using your job - pros and cons and all - up to you for what you want to deal with. So I don't see them making changes to something you technically already have.

I suppose in theory you do. In practice ... I would not call disobey such a person, a reasonable course of action that one can "choose".

I have contemplated not doing any dungeons or raids at all and just live off crafted equipment ...

That said, I'm sure next expansion's leveling will force me to do dungeons to advance the storyline. :/

However, the idea that if they don't satisfy every idea on these forums that they are hypocrites is taking it a little far. I mean how many requests and ideas do you think they get from the english section alone?

Mostly what I am saying is that there is a line between say "SE, I think it would a good idea to enable Summoners to summon Carbuncle, whether as it's own summon or a swap out of the egis." and calling them out for not listening to you and bringing up their disdane for the Carbuncle in many of the hreads you visit as an example of a failing of SE's.

Also, I just think you'd be happier hoping for them to add it in the future than being bitter that they haven't yet added it.

This new SE proclaimed themselves to be more "responsive" to players, I'm holding them to that proclamation.

I know nothing about programming, so you might be more informed than I am (I'm curious, do you have experience in programming? Could you show us an example of what kind of coding lines would go into making a change like this?) but workload was only an example.

When software developers design their programs, they design with the needs for future adjustment in mind.

Spells available to classes, their potency values ... etc. all these will be subject to frequently change hence it's common sense to make them as easy as possible to alter - possibly easy enough that the game designers (who frequently aren't tech literate enough to mess with the game code) can alter it themselves.

It's just as likely that the developers have made the choice not to do this because they don't want to. Like you said, how important something is is subjective. They may not view it as at the same level of importance that you do. I think it's fair to say no one does but that's passion I guess.

The point I'm trying to make though, isn't that you're wrong for asking for a new feature or that the feature wouldn't be cool, but you're not doing it with a lot of tact. It's the difference between "I would love to see this added, please consider it" vs. "The lack of this feature is why I'm not playing, you don't listen to your customers".

More responsive doesn't mean 'knee-jerk' reactive. I can't imagine Yoshi sitting down with the development team and saying "Hey, there's this one guy who wants his Carbuncle back. It's just one guy, but hey he's REALLY vocal about this, so get to it".

Not our fault you didn't use the advanced search feature and check mark the box "dev tracker" with the search word "carbuncle" either. But that's besides the point. It's not currently in there plans *is* the point.

Maybe they will surprise you at some point, maybe they won't. It doesn't matter if you don't like their answer or not. Complaining about it isn't going to do too much good in the manner you are going about it.

There are, quite literally, an infinite amount of things within SE's means to add to the game, but only a small portion of that infinity can actually be included. There are a lot of reasons for this; workload, design choices, time constraints. Sometimes, even things that the developers would really like to see included can't be or are delayed longer than they would like.

This is true of everything in life. Have you ever wanted to buy something, but thought "I shouldn't, my money would be better spent on something else"? It was in your means, but you thought of a better use for those means. A developer might think "Having a Carbuncle skin usable for Summoner Egi would be so cool, but we shouldn't right now because we've got way too much to do with the upcoming patch and expansion. We should keep our resources focused on that."

An understanding adult is familiar with this sort of thing and doesn't expect every wish of theirs to be practical all the time.

I can understand if it takes up months or even weeks of development time but this change really is incredibly trivial to implement - as anyone who know anything about programming can tell you.

The art for the Carbuncles is already done. The code for summoning and controlling the Carbuncles is also done. Adjusting potency values can be done in a few keystrokes as can copying-pasting 2 skills to SMN's spellbook.

the only real problem with this is they would have to make a new carbuncle colour for ifrit and that takes time/resources. otherwise yeah sure whatever

Classes are outdated. They have been since 1.21. They'd have to overhaul the system to make them have any kind of functionality and that would just take away from creating an expansive job systems. I don't see how you could possibly know their plans for 3.0. The reason they don't have base classes could be that they are getting rid of the class system and making cross job abilities.

With regards to their plans for 3.0, it's really more of a personal observation than stating of facts.

Having played WoW for over 8 years, I know how their classes are designed and why. FFXIV just seems to be going down the same route - Yoshi-P is after all a fan of WoW, so he replicating their class design isn't surprising.
