Can I train other people's chocobo with Thavnairian Onion?

Does anyone know for a fact if the Thavnairian Onion will work (raising cap when level is capped) on other people's chocobo when we use "Tend to specific chocobo" in FC house's stable?

Asking because when we try to train other people's chocobo with special veggie like Mimett Gourd or Sylkis Bud, it gives a prompt that says something like there will be no effect. I'm too afraid to try with an Onion because it's very hard to obtain and is very expensive.

The cap will not raise. It even tells you so if you try to use it. At least, it does if you use any of the other special treats.

Haha yeah. I really, really want to try and see if there will be a prompt, but other friend said "what if there is no prompt but it just doesn't work?" Scary thought!

I'm not sure if that will work or not. Even when you go to train your chocobo to feed it an onion and raise its level, it will give you the said prompt. The biggest thing you need to recognize before feeding any chocobo an onion is to make sure the chocobo is already at the next level and stuck on 0 xp. If it reads that the xp level is maxed (1599999/1599999 for example) then feeding an onion will not work and the onion will be wasted. If it's your chocobo you're feeding then you must take it out and get xp through combat, level it to the next level and get it stuck on 0, then train it and feed it the onion. If it's someone else's chocobo then they will have to do the same. I learned this the hard way unfortunately. Not sure why it was designed so awkwardly but I know that a chocobo cannot level by training alone. Hope this helps.

It won't work; I forget when, but somewhere it explicitly tells you that essentially only you can raise your own chocobo's max rank. Ergo, you can't raise someone else's chocobo's max rank.

Feeding a company member's chocobo will not affect its taste for certain fodder, increase its rank, or raise its rank cap. Proceed?

This is what it says when I feed sylkis to my FC member's chocobo. Even though I already answered earlier, just saying, this is what it says in the game.

As others have said, you will not be able to raise someone else's chocobo's Rank cap. Only the owner can raise the cap.

Thank you MomomiMomi! I didn't know the Sylkis Bud's prompt includes all stuff (FC friend mentioned it long ago and I didn't ask for the whole text). It's nice to know the exact detail.
