GeForce 280.26 driver causing FFXIV to crash

Hopefully this info will save people some trouble.

Installed the recently released GeForce 280.26 WHQL driver then noticed it bumped my GPU avg temp while playing FFXIV 10 degrees (from 62-65C to 75C). It also causes very frequent crashes (even blue screens) about 15 to 30 mins of gameplay.

    My fix:
Rolled back to driver 275.33 WHQL, GPU temp went down and it works fine now. This is obviously an nvidia issue but has anyone come across this issue ?

    My setup:
    OS: Win 7 x64
    GPU: EVGA GTX 460
    CPU: Intel Q6600 2.4Ghz
FFXIV settings: 1920x1200 windowed, 2xMSAA, Drawing quality all at highest.

Same. Have had new drivers for an old a$$ 9600 GT with no issues in temp or crashes. I have 12 GBs of RAM if that really is the issue.

No issues I've noticed but i've not been on that much. Gtx 570 oc
But yeah prob just bad drivers for that card, I'd try a 2nd install and test a few games though if you want to see, or just wait on another update really though.

An 8Gig of ram cos everyone else wants to talk about it lol.
(though i think the 1st guy just wanted to try an show off )

On an ASUS GTX 460 here, and I saw a about a 5fps improvement all around with the new drivers, plus a temp drop. Gotta say, I love 'em.

Final Fantasy XIV has been crashing a lot for me ever since I installed the GeForce 280.26 driver update. Most of the time a message appears after the crash saying "unable to detect DirectX device" or something similar. Once, Final Fantasy XIV crashed for no apparent reason. I recently rolled back to the previous driver version and, so far, I have not experienced a crash, though I haven't played long enough to know if this fixed the problem for sure. If I experience another crash, I'll let you know.

In case if this is important, here are my system statistics:

    Operating System: Windows Vista
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+
    Memory (RAM): 2.00 GB
    Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250
Gaming Graphics: 1791 MB Total available graphics memory

With the above statistics I can run Final Fantasy XIV quite (spelling?) well with everything set to standard. FPS is nearly perfect outside of cities, but I experience quite a few skips in cities. Nothing that renders the game unplayable for me though.

The issue you had with the Direct X 11 ...did you get the update for your GPU from Nvidia or Microsoft? I had the SAME issue when I did them, yes I knew better but did it anyway, with Microsoft. The new ones you guys are having issues with I got from Nvidia themselves and no issue at all. Could be a bad driver install as most have said or could be the provider of those drivers as well. Just my 2 cents since Baldur reminded me. And mine happened just playing on Civ V which is NO where NEAR FFXIV as far as GPU intensive.
