Men's Contest Judge Scores and Feedback
Adam Fylrmyn
Judge A: "Love the amount of effort you put into this theme. You nailed it! You took a chance with having a shot from behind and luckily it paid off as you sold the story expertly. I get a whole “Oh, shit! What did I do” kind of vibe that reminds me of the kid in The Mummy after being told not to touch anything. I hope you made it back to civilization before something evil was unleashed! Great job once again." Score: 2
Judge B: "This was one that was on the border for me. I think the effect is cool and I can discern a somewhat surprised body pose from you, but the lack of any facial expression is a bit of downer for me. Once again though, I love the effect and how it all goes with the theme, but my eye just wants to focus on that instead of you. The picture almost completely relies on just that from my perspective. I applaud you for the risk, regardless! " Score: 1
Judge C: "I quite like the light effects in this shot and the fact you managed to pull off suprised with your back turned. Im also a fan of when people take the risk of doing back shots since you never know how people will respond." Score: 2
Judge D: "Taking a back shot was a ballsy risk, but I think it worked alright here. You balanced the shot, are expressive via body motions. If you were turned a little to the side so we could at least see some of your face this would have been stellar." Score: 2
Aiden Weaver
Judge A: "I had to really look at this shot to get the subtle nuances in your shot and the more I looked, the more I like what you did. Your expression and pose; the flare effect off to the right that lights you and the room up, as well as the scared assistant behind you all compliment the shot for me. I know some might complain about how bright you are but I think it works. It helps sell the idea that you’ve stumbled on something strange. My only suggestion to improve this would have been to look towards the center of the effect as it would have made it easier for those viewing to see what’s happening quicker. Again, good job though" Score: 2
Judge B: "I enjoy the interesting looking up angle in this picture. I like your frustrated-thinking pose and enjoy the extra's surprise in the background like something just happened, truly a moment frozen in time. My main issue with the picture comes about in the lighting. It looks like there's an effect that's happening in the foreground that's really obscuring a lot of the detail in the picture. I think the idea of something happening all of sudden goes well with your idea, I think if it was happening more in the background though away from the picture taker, things would be clearer, especially yourself. " Score: 2
Judge C: "I like the tomb explorer look you have going on here but I feel the light kind of washes you out here. Good location though!" Score: 1
Judge D: "Fascinating angle here, I like it. You're a little overlit though, to the point where your face is washed out. Your outfit choice and use of extra work well though!" Score: 2
Flare Anderfel
Judge A: "Hey Flare, how many lalafel’s does it take to retrieve an artifact on a pedestal? Love the humorous approach to the theme this round and it made me giggle, I cannot lie. You used your extras well and even though the little guy on the far left nearly steals the spotlight you managed to keep the focus on you like any great model should. Well done!" Score: 3
Judge B: "'Ugh, it's right there but none of can reach! ><' very cute picture with humor! I like the party of extras you have that really sells the dungeon expedition aspect. Overall I think the lighting is sufficient and it definitely fits the theme, but there's nothing that really pushes it to the '3' level for me. But your pic was definitely my favorite of the guys! " Score: 2
Judge C: "Ahh Lala problems. This is a cute shot. even with so many others in the shot you managed to make yourself look like a focus point. Cute outfit to boot." Score: 2
Judge D: "Very cute shot and you're managing to be the focal point despite your team. My onlt issue is that in doing so the shot has become unbalanced to where there's a lot of empty space on the right side. Less is sometimes more and I think losing the lancer extra would have helped rebalance the shot." Score: 2
Jinx Fireboot
Judge A: "There are a couple of things I really liked about this shot. Mainly I like the lighting effects you used to give the impression that there is something pretty amazing inside that chest. I can’t wait to see what’s inside. I also really like the composition with you on the left and the chest in the foreground. The treasure is the star ..or so we think until we get a look at you. Jinxie, making treasure hunting cool." Score: 2
Judge B: "I love your expedition outfit, the ruins backdrop, and the chest is a clever touch as well! The light gleaming off it is great. I dunno if it was intentional, but perspective-wise the chest does look very big, which adds to the 'wow! jackpot!' feel, but conversely it takes away from you as the focus in the foreground. I think if you had an interesting pose as opposed to just a smirk you could've stolen more attention back. " Score: 2
Judge C: "Oooo shinies. I quite like the location and lighting in this picture, however I wish you looked a little more expressional in this shot." Score: 1
Judge D: "I've commented several times how you have nice lighting but it doesn't have a clear source. This is MUCH better. The gleam from the chest is a perfect source for it that works wonderfully. My only complaint is that you seem almost bored to have found it. Some expression would have pushed it to the upper ranks quickly." Score: 2
Marik Destiel
Judge A: "My first reaction to this shot was you went back in time and channeled your inner Lord Carnarvon when he discovered King Tut’s tomb. Your outfit and hat totally sell that early 1900’s vibe. I also like your choice of location; it was refreshing to see some colors other than browns and greys usually found amongst the ruins around Eorzea. However, the ONE thing that sticks out like a sore thumb for me is your staff. There is no reason for you, as a gentleman tomb raider to have that slung across your back. If you had hidden your weapon this shot would have gone from good to great. Try to remember subtle things like that in the future, especially for themed shots." Score: 1
Judge B: "I enjoy your outfit and the pose you're giving either trying to reach or decipher something. The lighting really adds to that ominous ruin feeling, but the perspective is a bit lacking. I don't get much of the feel of the stairs or height of that area that could've been captured. Or perhaps the bridges of light, etc. I think there was a great potential in this shot, it just misses the mark to really push through. " Score: 2
Judge C: "Lighting is good especially in a dark place, you have a great expression and location. By far my favorite shot this round." Score: 3
Judge D: "Interesting take on it. I like that knowing you were going to a dark place you chose a light outfit to counter it. Smart move there. I wish you'd hidden the staff though! It feels out of place. Your extra does too, for that matter...I don't feel he really adds much and is a little distracting." Score: 1

Adeline Urusa
Judge A: "I was hoping someone would do the Lara Croft thing. x3 Great cosplay, the skirt works nicely since there are no suitable shorts for such a cosplay. I like the bow and arrow! Your pose is nice, and the expression captures certainly the classic LC attitude. Nice one getting a chest in shot, treasure hunt theme plus. I only think it'd be more interesting if maybe the enemies looked engaged. Since you arn't exactly hidden, it just feels odd to me that they arn't phased by you lining up your bow over here. Lovely shot though well done." Score: 2
Judge B: "Youre off centered, the setting is nice (minus the Top right hand corner), and that is a really nice outfit. I am not in love with the weapon being out, the mob in the background (Are you hiding from it? Cuz uh…It can totally see you. xD) and the chest is SO literal though!" Score: 2
Judge C: "Solid shot all around here. I'm a little taken out of it because you're clearly trying to hide but the ruin isn't tall enough. Great positioning of the treasure chest though." Score: 2
Eirwen Mackenzie
Judge A: "oooo very Indiana Jones, I like that you didn't go for the obvious Lara with your gender. Your outfit suits your theme nicely. I love your location, very Tomby. Nice pose and expression too, checking out the spoils. Careful it's not booby trapped! The lighting is nice in here too, unsure if you used the wind up sun, but your face is lit nicely without being too unnatural glowy. The candles in the background give a nice atmosphere too." Score: 3
Judge B: "Props for not using a treasure chest! The picture is a little dark, but the outfit and pose and background are very Ruin-y." Score: 2
Judge C: "Brilliant. Inspecting an ancient artefact, you really captured the depth of the area here. Your outfit is perfect and you're subtly lit without being overpowering. I love everything about it." Score: 3
Iris Dawnshade
Judge A: "Onoes Iris, that naughty Lala is gonna steal your treasure!! :O Nice time of day for the shot, very vibrant. I like your gear. Your pose is good for the idea you are executing, scanning for treasure I guess? I like the kinda comedic feel of the other Lala in the background with the open treasure chest /shrugging. I can't quite decide if he is an accomplice of yours or a rival though." Score: 2
Judge B: "Off centered, and a GREAT background. I don’t like the concept, personally, but I appreciate you having someone else come in and help. You must be blind if you can’t see that treasure chest though. It’s red and gold and purple in the middle of the desert! I like the outfits matching colors, shows yall are part of a team." Score: 2
Judge C: "I like the concept here and the confused look from the other Lala in the background. The chest being open is somewhat confusing though!" Score:
Rhaya Relenah
Judge A: "Now this is interesting! WHAT DID YOU FIND!!!? I MUST KNOW! That's a very nice ruin behind you, and I like the extreme close up, makes a change! Your expression is awesome, you must have found something pretty amazing. What I can see of your gear is nice, it's not too heavy and can pass as explorer gear. Adds some colour to the image. I love that whatever it is you appear to be holding is letting off such a glow too." Score: 2
Judge B: "You’ve learned we love your facial expressions, huh? I love that the item you’ve found is a mystery. I love the outfit. I love that the giant head really goes will with yours! Haha. This is a great image." Score: 3
Judge C: "My mind jumped to Pulp Fiction here. Did you steal the briefcase? It was a risk with a shot this closely zoomed in but I think it worked. You managed to choose a background that still sold the ruin theme without being overpowering and your framing was nicely done." Score: 2
Sakuraya Kai
Judge A: "Nice shot, I quite like how the chest is so large in the image, since the theme is treasure hunting. Your pose is quite nice, and your expression is ok but I party wish it was somehow more emotive. The chest looks pretty dangerous and you seem to just look curious rather than cautious/curious lol. Your gear is good. Background is ok but a bit bland since it's all the same gloom. It's a shame you couldn't have the sun minion here to add some orange to brighten things up a bit. The weather effect of the dungeon does give a feel of danger though which is nice. " Score: 1
Judge B: "Not a fan of this hairstyle/color on you, but props for continuing the change it so often haha. This is one of my favorite dungeons in the game, and I feel you found a really weak background. The outfit is not very explorative, and more battle gear. I do like the concept though, just can imagine in 2 other places that would have looked better. " Score: 1
Judge C: "I like the concept here, but with the chest being so far in the foreground and with so much of it cut off, the shot feels unbalanced. I do like that you attempted to match the area colour theme with your outfit though - nice camo attempt. You managed to not actually blend in to the background too much too, so props for that." Score: 1
I'm not bothering will full rankings for the reasons posted in the discussion thread. However I do want to announce that this week's S-Rank shot goes to Eirwen Mackenzie. Congrats Eirwen!
