    The lore aspect is one the big reasons why I don't think SE would remove current classes even though mechanics wise it would make sense to remove them. Though the jobs being rare doesn't really hold water since almost every player is a job already, its just one of those "in a bubble" things have to accept for sake of making game playable. Msq already treats each player as your the only warrior of light, same logic is applied to jobs already as well in the case of things like whm.

    If classes were removed from players I'm sure all npcs would remain as classes. Only lore appropriate way i can think to remove classes would be to retcon the player as always being X job and studying the basics at applicable guild before moving up to the real job quests.

    I still think jobs were be left alone and just act as the pool were jobs pull extra abilities from in the future and no new classes will ever be added.
