    Now the real question is, are they hints of FF12, or are they hints of...?

    Cause FFXII was pretty much a rip off of that.

    Vaan = Luke
    Ashe = Leia
    Balthier = Han Solo
    Fran = Chewbakka
    Dalmasca = Alderaan
    Golmore = Endor
    The Empire = The Empire
    Judges = Darth Vader
    Jagd Yensa = Tatooin
    Urutan-Yensa = Jawa

    Aaaand someone's in the Empire was the father of someone in the party.

    Slightly off-topic, but I'll never get tired of making people notice, lol. But yes, there's theories Hydaelyn and Ivalice may be in the same universe at least.

    I am surprised no one brought up Ultros in this thread. Doesn't have to do with 12 but he was purple, like to set traps and had to fight him as a boss in other games.

    Ultros was again, just a reference to FFVI and not a direct link to FFVI's world (he was not the FFVI Ultros at all, as it was clearly stated he was actually a failed creation of the THM's Guild, who then abandoned him because he was considered a failure, which makes one wonder exactly what it was they were trying to make).

    Typhon on the other hand.... who knows exactly where he came from - his origins were never explained. But I guess he can just easily be handwaved away as another 'Voidsent'.

    We could ask Typhon ourselves but I'm pretty sure the answer would be FUNGAH.

    Okay then. that's what I'll do. I'll tell you a story. Can you hear them? All these people who lived in terror of you and your judgement. All these people who's ancestors devoted themselves to you, sacrificed themselves to you. Can you hear them singing?

    Ultros wasn't created by the thm, they summoned him along with other voidsent, so he is likely the same.

    Not neccessarily - Dour Meadow doesn't actually state that he was summoned from the Void in the Hildibrand questline at all:

    Dour Meadow: "They were going to seal him away in a hole in the desert with the others, when he opened his slobberin' mouth and started pleadin' for his life. "I just want to live in peace! I'll do anything! Anything!" So the management hired him to do odd jobs around the Colosseum."
    Of course the use of the word incantations does seem to suggest 'summoning', but why state he was born rather than simply outright say he was summoned and be done with it? Why beat around the bush? It might just be how it was worded, but to me it seems the THM's Guild created him via arcane magics rather than actually summoned him. But counterpoint to that could be it's just mere semantics - a different term that ultimately just means the same thing anyway. So I don't know, I guess I'm just reading too much into it.

    While there is no stated direct correlation. There is.

    Ultros's mannerisms, the traps he created and fell into himself, Uncle Ulty? I mean really? It's the same.

    we do know that Ultros is a crafty Octopus. he could have slipped in and in classic fashion got caught within a summoning ritual. it may have taken him awhile to learn this world's language remember we do have echo to help us translate. maybe Eorzean common is different from FVI's common tongue.

    here's just a short list of similarities drawn from early FF titles into later titles including XI:.

    FFI - The uber-original. Most things derive from here.
    FFII - Dreadnought airship controlled by the evil empire (oh, and evil empire/rebel faction) Magic & machine hybrids. Passwords to gain trust. Underworld, Cid, Chocobos
    FFIII - Castle was floating according to ffI lore, but first with a floating continent. many staple creatures first seen here, like summons. Moogles! Job-change system, Crystal Tower
    FFIV - interactive mounts, Active-Time Battle system. Multiple breeds of chocobo.
    FFV - parallel worlds addressed, void explicitly addressed, intro to Gilgamesh. Minigames added. Job system further expanded
    FFVI - Heavy expansion to magitech, 1000 year old mage war. Magicite used to gain power by equipping gems and fighting monsters (similar to vii materia). cinematic cutscenes. Coliseum battles. Ultros. Weather system (Mog). A crapload of stuff.
    FFVII - characters graduate from sprites to 3d models- Gold Saucer, materia attachments in gear sockets, chocobo breeding/racing
    FFVIII - upgrade system for gear
    FFIX - Feud between 2 uber powerful summons: Bahamut & Alexander. Mist/miasma as a source of magical beasts threatening the world.
    FFX - Macalania woods much like corrupted aether east of camp drybone. Full CG cutscenes & voice acting
    FFXI - Shantoto event, races of Vana'diel closely based on player races in xiv
    FFXII - Hunt system
    FFXIII - Lightning event

    I'm sure im missing a LOT and may expand later... but this is just off of the top of my head.

    What I love about it is how they are bringing it all together. They may be all separate games but the way they pick and choose favorite pieces from past games is a lot of fun. Some people don't even realize the correlation between the old games and the current. There is an age gap that never experienced the originals.

    Playing through the Ultros chapter of Hildebrand brought back so many memories of FFVI.
