Lag every day around the same time on the Famfrit server

Hi, hopefully this can be of some help, but around the same time everyday (from 8pm forward; not sure how long it lasts because I get fed up and stop playing) the game lags. I can be wandering a field gathering, or in a duty, and the game will slow down to near unplayable. Here's my information below. I had a Verizon rep take a look at everything yesterday, and as far as he knows he couldn't find any issue as to why this would occur every day. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I usually play in the evenings. Seriously, this is like clockwork every day. If I play any time before 8PM EST, I am absolutely fine.

Please feel free to contact me if you need any additional information.

Verizon customers have been having issues off and on with Verizon's "secondary" network used to get you across to Montreal--if you run some traces you may see some erratic behavior from their alter.net segments. For most last mile ISP's, they link to a third party network to get you across the country and into Montreal, but Verizon actually owns the alter.net lines. If you find issues there, you should be able to get it addressed by contacting Verizon's Tier3 support team. Save your trace results so you can forward it to them--it will give them a road map as to where to look for issues along your route.

Verizon/Alter.net have put the agreements in place that determine how you get routed to Ormuco, so they have several means at their disposal to help route you away from congested segments. Even if it happens at another provider's segments prior to getting to Ormuco, Verizon should still be able to assist you through Tier3 as well--if not directly, they can conduct a proper investigation and escalate it to the proper people to get it taken care of.

OK cool, that's something I can check on. Would that possibly cause the "every day at this time" issue that I am experiencing?

Also, do you know the IP Address that I can run the trace to?

Has anyone else from Famfrit experienced this issue? I was in ST yesterday, and a lot of other people were lagging. I don't know how many were on Famfrit, though.

Each world server is hosted across a range of IP addresses, so ideally you would want the one your client connects to. If you are on PC, there are a few ways to find it. Log fully into the game, and then alt-tab out and load either Resource Monitor (resmon from the search/run box), or by running the netstat command in a command prompt (cmd from the search/run box). In Resource Monitor, you can expand the TCP or Network section to find the IP that FFXIV is using. If using the command prompt and netstat, you may see a series of connections in an idle_wait state--you are looking for the established connections. The IP you will be looking for will be 199 for servers in Canada and 124 for servers in Japan.

If on a console, it gets a bit trickier. If you have access to your router's admin pages, you may have a section for showing the current connections or a page that allows you to run ping, traceroute and netstat. Look for an established connection between your console's IP and the 199 or 124 IP address depending on which region you are using. If you don't have such pages, you may have telnet access to the router. That can be used as well--basically it's the same as using a DOS prompt in windows, where you can run the ping, traceroute, or netstat commands.

Note that you will be in a Linux shell when using the router approach, and it uses the command traceroute and not tracert like in Windows, in case you want to run traces from the router.

If you can't/don't want to dig through all that, you can just use the addresses to the lobby servers, as they are in the same subnet and it will get you in the ballpark:

neolobby02.ffxiv.com (should resolve to 199.91.189.74 - this what I go through for Aether to Midgard)
    neolobby04.ffxiv.com (should resolve to 199.91.189.93)
    neolobby06.ffxiv.com (should resolve to 199.91.189.106)

The JP lobbies use the same naming scheme, but with the odd numbers 01, 03, and 05 in them.

***note that these are current names/IP's---some of this may change once the new EU servers are implemented overseas

Thanks for the info! I'm on PC, and am good with computers (old IT joke we used to say at my prior job) so I should be able to handle this part.

Ok so I obtained the information I needed last night. I will work on getting with Verizon on this. Is there anything specifically I should tell them? Something like "Hey, can you get me the fastest connection from my house to this IP Address?" I want to try to get this resolved, and then post on here that it was fixed. I know sometimes scouring these forums looking for answers can be disheartening at times.

I was about to post this same exact issue. Every day on Lamia at this time 9:00pm EST USA, I get the same unbearable lag. It's not even lag spikes, its just straight consistent lag. I don't lag in any other games and ping seems consistent in all other games.
My ISP is from Verizon Fios.
I work all day and this is the only time I can really play. This unfortunately started happening recently and not when I was on my free trial a week or 2 ago. It's almost getting to the point where paying for a subscription is not worth it for me, no matter how much I love the game, I just can't play anymore.

    Any resolve on this issue?
