At least it would have let us align our own points for each class... who knows how the NEW system will be like...
What you speak of sounds pretty much like what they are aiming to do... Stats for separate classes, stats depending on the level of the class?

Same here. I never imagined 2 words being such an insanely massive deal. Meh no point in even trying to be sarcastic or funny.
With all the new additions, terminology is inconsequential, as is the OP.

Oh boy... The mods are gunna have a field day with this one...

I thought the apology was for the abolishment of physical levels seeing as how people who have multiple 50s by now have their points all set up and after update gotta do them for each class 1 at a time.
and wtf is a tl;dr?

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

Hurray for the removal of such ungodly terms as Rank and SP. Exp and levels {Yes please.} Now if we can just remove the term "Class" so the people jumping oldskool FFXI players for saying "Job" can drag their knuckles back to the cave whence they came.I can only hope less than 50% of the replys are some kind of intilectual responce rather than just bullshit responces baces upon my rude chatter.
You expect them to "loose" people over this change? This is the single best update to ever happen to the game.
Unfortunately I don't have much to offer in the way of intl3490y8qwey89-tcual responce (sorry I just punched my keyboard because I can't see your exact spelling without scrolling), but I admire your efforts young troll.
If you don't think new summoner is better, you're playing the wrong game.

Actually, that can't happen, as they're implementing the Job system on top of this Class system. So unless you can advice another term for the Jobs while Class can adopt the name of Job, the two are, right now, very different in regards to FFXIV terminology. It's one of the few cases that I've really had to separate the two in terms of core ideals and use.

Most of the players dont like physical levels, if you have physical level 50 you are overpowered leveling low rank classes because the point allotments are based on physical levels, they also dont like the point allotment because if you go from say LNC with high dex and str stats to THM you either have gimp stats or have to spend hours realloting points to other stats, the abolishment of physical levels will allow players to allot points based on class, so you play LNC you can have high dex and str, you wanna play THM you can make the class how you want you want to heal with sacrifice up your mnd pie, you want to nuke and DoT up your int and pie, you wanna be a hybrid up mnd, int and pie.Physical levels will be nixed in patch 1.19, as per popular demand. In light of this change, skill points will be replaced by experience points, and rank renamed level.
System-wise, MMORPGs are generally more complex than their offline RPG counterparts, and this is evident in the jargon they employ. In implementing the above changes in terminology, we wanted to make it so that at least the core aspects of the game can be easily grasped by anyone. We realize that more established players may find this change unsettling, and would like to apologize and ask for your understanding in advance.
It apears SE has no backbone. They cant stick with what they chose. Popular demand? Fuck you all. My weapon does not level up. My weapon does not gain exp. This is a gamebreaker. SE is soft.
There explination makes no sence. The system did make sence. Weapons skill up. There was nothing wrong with weapons skill points and physical levels. I just get more confused what they are trying to acomplish. Its interesting they mentioned "established players", well if your one of them, your upset as me. The less maticulous can redefine shit and call it diamonds and shove it in their mouth and love it to death. The rest of us see a definition and trust its true. Until they pull crap like this. Changing the dictionary is horable. We learn one way, they you force us to ignore the facts, because some idiot said i dont want it that way. Im against this change and any reason for doing so. You may think im silly for getting so frusterated over something that just words. But SE does understand people like me, or they wouldnt have put the apology inside the notation. I dont know what they expect, other than to hope they dont loose too many people for a dumb change like this. I cant fathom how many people would honestly complain that they cant get use to a new system of terminology. This whole game is new, and i wonder how many of the active players actually wanted this change. And how many didnt really care.
I dont expect you to understand im just ranting my furious hate.
I can only hope less than 50% of the replys are some kind of intilectual responce rather than just bullshit responces baces upon my rude chatter.
I emplore you, please be kind, I only state my opinion.
With the current system you cant do that in a reasonable time frame, if they keep physical levels but assign attribute points to class, physical level is useless and there is no point in it.
Also lets not forget we have been playing the game under 2 producers/directors who have differant visions for the game, we are currently in limbo between the two visions, Tanaka wanted class rank and physical levels, Yoshi-P doesnt and Yoshi-P can change it now.
Most of the community was against physical levels for these reasons, and Yoshi-P listened, Tanaka had listened to the alpha and beta feedback the game would not have been in this situation where the whole game needs drastic changes, and look at the positive comments recently on the forums, its all because Yoshi-P is listening and doing what the majority of the community wants.
