Well, it updates every time there's a file added to the log directory by ffxiv. For a progress bar, you have to know the total amount of work beforehand, and increment it as you go along, while in this case the work just kind of pops up at random intervalls, so there's really nothing to base it on. I could add an indeterminate progress bar, but that wouldn't really help indicate anything.
