    [HALP!] Linguistics of Goblin Speech

So, I've finally gotten around to making my Paladin his own unique glamour, and I went with the Goblin look and built it around that.

    My problem now is this:

All my classes that are 50 and geared have their own macros to match the unique look to them, but there's not much I can do to go back and see previous encounters with the few goblins you interact with, making it really hard to get the linguistical pattern down of their speech. Brayflox only has one line, Mutamix will only talk about the Stonyshines (Materia)

So coming up with macros that actually fit the costume is a bit of a hit or miss at the moment. Any bookreader Uplanders able to help out Meatyshield Loury?

    Pshhh... Shkohhh...

Meatyshield is wanting to trade tongueflaps like gobbiefolk? Moosenix thinks busydeal can be made; earcatch teachywords of Moosenix closelike.

"Pshhh... Shkohhh..." is an onomatopoeia for the sounds of breathing through the goblin mask; it often starts a sentence or marks a pause. Other than that, here's what I'd guess are some of the rules (don't assume they're gospel, though): Never use the 1st or 2nd person unless forced to; structure the sentence around both parties being in the third person (you may need to refer to other party members as nouns, maybe even a word you create). The biggest part stylistically is to never use a specific, complex word when you can create your own compound word using two simple, broad words. It's not an agreement, it's a busydeal. It's not a bridge, it's a watercross. It's not a settlement, it's a longstop. Likewise, avoid using [apostrophe-s] or [Adjective Noun] when you can throw an "of" in there (unless you can create another funny compound word).

Gobbie wordlaw is not mindsealed in one teachytime, and teachytime of Moosenix is not gift of wideheart.

I love it. It's so adorable, even if it's a bit hard to take seriously.

Goblins are a real hit and miss monster to begin with considering that it's difficult to avoid stumbling sideways into the bland "evil elf" cliche. I liked that XI and XIV tied them to the World War II gremlin mythology of being machinery tinkerers, and I've always assumed that their silly demeanor (and masked visage, for that matter) is meant to avoid the imp trope and invoke a little bit of the old Jim Henson vibe. I read most of their dialogue in the voice and character of one of those grumpy little monsters from Labyrinth and the Dark Crystal.

I think they managed to make goblins pretty interesting, even if I am mildly confused by them in this game with their primal, they're just very... cutesy. But it makes sense, they're one of the nicer of the Beastman races, probably pretty on par with Sylph in terms of that. But I also love the theme is all. Would be nice if it was easier to do with the other Beastman but I don't think there is much out there, at least unless you want to be Moogle-themed.

I'd totally do a Goblin beastquest reputation grind.

I've gotten in the habit of calling my roulettes "spinnywheel dungeonmake" here and there.

Edit: Thinking more about it, spinnywheel is a bit too generic as all wheels spin as their primary function... maybe "chancewheel" would be better? Doesn't quite have the same ring to it IMO, but is quite a bit more specific. Could be generalized to other shapes as well, so dice would be "chance cubes". (though that just makes me think of Watto from the Star Wards prequels >.>)
