YesI don't think it's entirely silly to have a tree/presents for the outside... but only because I've seen it done IRL plenty of times. (May sound strange if you've never seen it, but some people who do "extreme yard decoration" for Xmas put what's essentially a public yard replica of your typical indoor tree setup outside. It's just another pretty thing to be lit up on the yard. As for the presents bit, they're empty boxes, of course!)
A christmas tree in the yard is not really uncommon

Keep in mind also that this game comes from Japan. While they do have a concept of Christmas, most of their christmas trees are either freakishly small/fake and go inside, or are put outside since Japanese houses are...not all that big. The soft spot on my friend's head from walking into Japanese door frames should attest to that.
We demanded big trees, trees go outside, so they put the trees outside.
My dorm didn't even get a nice christmas tree on christmas ;_; a couple drunk guys almost stole one. From outside.
Um...even XI has interior Xmas Trees (since there's only an interior for your personal decoration needs.)Keep in mind also that this game comes from Japan. Completely agree. You know, it would have been nice to have a tree for those people you know, who only have a room, and not a house >.>Okay, really this is just confusion more than anything. I'm one of many who has brought this up in Moogle and thought I'd voice this on the forums.
Why are the new items MOSTLY outdoor furnishings? Does SE not understand their 20/30(?)/40 item limit is EXTREMELY restricting as is? Furthermore, who the hell puts a Christmas tree outside of their house? Secondly, who puts presents under a Christmas tree outside of their house? I know this is just a game and things are different here, but who puts bloody presents outside of their house? The most important items this Starlight event are those which their placement makes absolutely no sense.
Now I can understand that you can't put Wreaths on the door, but the fact that you can't put any of those items inside the house that SHOULD be put inside the house really ruin the atmosphere IMO. All we need now is for these items to be one-placement only and we all may as well not even bother.
To be fair, it's not really Christmas. I mean, it's obviously Christmas, but it's not Christmas.
Well probably get indoor trees next year.
I agree that the limit of furnishings (both inside and out) needs to be increased so items don't have to be temporarily "swapped out" for seasonal items. And yeah, a tree inside would've been nice. I honestly would have liked to have placed one of each type of tree in our FC yard in order to help out other people doing the daily quests, but I understand that might prevent players from visiting other houses if they know they can go to one specific house each day and have a choice of colours. As if some players weren't lazy enough as it is, that would definitely make them even more lazy!![]()
I agree that X-Mas trees are seen as outdoor decoration as well, along with presents, granted I have outdoor decoration of gifts myself, I don't understand why they didn't do a replica of the tree and presents for indoor furnishing as well. It's like they're not thinking it through and just shoot out one idea and that's it, no review or double-checking things. Just shoot it out and let the players find the faults.
5 gear, 5 food, 1 minion, 9 housing, 3 miscellany
That's 23 event reward items. 9 are for housing: 3 of those are the trees, which are tied to the event daily quests; only 2 of the remaining 6 are classified "outdoor furnishing" - don't actually know about them, can the rest really not be placed inside? Because if they can, that leaves only 5 items, less than 25% of the whole. Wouldn't say "mostly" about that, personally.
What is a little off-putting, though, in my opinion, is that it seems FCs are getting most of the rewards. Food is reused from last year, haven't figured out what the bags do just yet, the gear set is once again not complete (no gloves again, even weirder with the fanart feature), but about 40% of the rewards are for housing - 40% of the players surely doesn't have personal homes... And it's not like houses don't have rather strict limits on item placements anyway. Just... feeling a disproportionate, I think.
Yeah, but this is a game and an MMO. What's stopping them from making next year's rewards include an indoor "Starlight" tree? We have to have something new. So you didn't get one this year. Look forward to next year.Yes, I understand that. But players, self included obviously, wanted one for inside the house. We have little space AS IS for outside placement of objects, and this is coming from someone who owns an FC with a large house. There simply isn't enough space outside, and it makes no sense whatsoever that they didn't include a single Christmas tree that could be placed inside the house, as is tradition.
I think the outdoor decorations are great. Plus there ARE indoor decorations as well.
The only point I can agree on is that limited item space they give us to decorate our yards. My FC has a small house and even though we have 20 items in the yard it doesn't feel cluttered. If anything I feel like I should be able to put more decorations up. Yet to do that I have to remove other ones that I already like. That part sucks.
Yeah, cant say I agree with this. At the very least, a house celebrating christmas will have a christmas tree. It is the most iconic decorative item used indoor. Outdoor trees are fine, but obviously someone in programing doesn't understand this simple yet crucial thing.
