The Future of Gathering: An Exciting Vision!

Here are 3 (long term) suggestions, which could help the gathering classes being more important, interesting and fun.

    Introduction

I think it would be great if gatherers would get rare and exciting items they can look forward to obtain. The feeling would be similar to the FFXI NM itemhunt, where you need days or weeks to obtain one single item, but the big difference would be, that the time is not lost. You would get it through your usual gathering routine or by (which is a lot more fun ^^) adventuring/travelling.
So the basic idea is to give gathering classes additionally the same type of loot that DoW and DoM classes get.
It is somewhat strange that you need a fighting class to gather the most important materials for your high level gear. I'm talking about your Ahriman Wings, Mosshorn Scales and Great Buffalo Horns.
    So the first idea is:

    1. Give Gatheres some exclusive items, for high rank gear.
I think of specific spots, which randomly appear or simply usual spots where you can obtain gathering-exclusive material (with a small percentage of course).

    For Example:
Miners could get (with a little luck and time) a rare Ore, which can be crafted into a unique Cuirass.
Botanists could get a rare wood, which can be crafted into a unique Bow.

    2. Treasure Chests with Equipment and Gil
Think of it like that. Someone stole money and hid it in a rock. Someone crafted a unique gear and hid it in a three.
You would get the chance (of course with a reasonable chance) to optain this kind of loot too.

It would also be a very good way to introduce Rare/Ex Gathering Equipment. For higher ranks, but also for middle range ranks. Why should fighting classes be the only one with sweat rare/ex gear. ?

    3. Introducing special Gathering Locations
The Miners have already Mines. It would be great so see activitees to focus more on these. Well, because it simply makes more sense and you feel more like a real miner.

Gatherers could get special forests. Areas with lot of tress, where they also can feel more like a Botanist.

Introducing the rare loot can be a great motivation to visit these special locations.

    Finishing Thoughts
I personally see great potential in the gathering classes. They could be a wonderful treasure hunting class, where you need to search the land, cross deserts, oceans and mountains, just to obtain the one single item you are looking for weeks.

This is my exiting vision of the future of gathering classes.

I hesitated because it had little to nothing to do with my suggestions. That's why.

I assume he meant the support beams, but not really that funny.

I agree that DoL should get exclusive items, but soon that will be the case with the materia catalyst, assuming there will be more than one kind.
I am not sure about the treasure chest idea as its not much of a hiding place in most trees. it would of course work for fishing but hiding a chest inside a rock face would be mighty tricky XD. But I do want rare/ex gear im just not sure if this is the best way.
I would like to see an instanced area, like the area outside the botanist guild for trees and such, a sort of sancuary, or mines you need to be rank 50 before being able to go in for example, would be quite nice.

    I would like that, too.
The meaning of the "treasure chest" is to mix it up btw. I know it doesn't make perfect sense, but we get treasure chests from leves and now in the fields.

I just want something exciting to happen while i'm gathering, because it is really boring now.
I would understand that they don't see a big need of change here, if DoL was a hobby, but it is a class and I like it, that they want crafters and gatherers be a class on their on, where you can enjoy a similar fun compared to fighting classes.

if something is boring for you then don't do that, ignore! it is easy? easy, i think... and don't ask for break something just for you, what was nice and fun for others, mate... crafting is boring? ignore craft, don't craft! gathering? also! don't compare fighting classes with foragers and crafters, they different and must be different...

    Thats some attitude. ^^
But you won't honestly tell me that gathering is an exciting and fun activite at the moment.
And I really struggle to understand your logic. How can "ignore if you don't like it" be the motto of this game and this forum. Well, you must have your reason.

How are my ideas making things worse? Gathering would be 99% of the time the same gathering as it is now. It is just an addition, not a core change of the whole idea.

crafting is boring? ignore craft, don't craft! gathering? also!
I am ignoring them (in the game). ^^
It is a shame though, because there is huge potential in crafts and in gathering.

don't compare fighting classes with foragers and crafters, they different and must be different...
    Why?
(Especially when FFXIV obviously intended crafters and gatherers to play a more important role).
And I'm not saying gathering should be as important as fighting, btw. But it doesn't hurt, if they get some exciting stuff, similar to fighting classes.
